TEAM EVENTS, CLINICS, MEETS
1 . What Are your Coaches looking at when they are doing your entries?
- Group Coaches do entries for their groups for HOME meets
- Head Coach Kyle does all entries for Seniors in all meets, all groups in away meets, and Championship meets for all entered.
- If you commit to a meet and do not select events, your swimmer(s) will be entered in a maximum of 3 events per their age group’s session.
- In the event that a meet permits 4 events to be swum per session, Coaches will use discretion in entering the 4th event. Requests to swim the 4th event must be submitted in the “notes section” of your commitment.
- Failure to indicate in the notes section that you will only be swimming in 1 session or 1 day of a 2 or more-day meet will result in an entry in all days to a maximum (up to 3) event format. Selecting 2-3 events on one day and none on the other will not suffice and your swimmer(s) will be automatically entered in all other corresponding sessions (up to 3 events in each available session of their age group).
- Selecting your own events will prompt a review by the Coach/Coaches as Coaches have the final say in events to be swum.
- Coaches are looking at group standards (what is needed to get to the next level in training), IMX events (where can I improve my IMX score, or what events do I still need to swim to achieve an IMX score), events that the individual has not participated in yet (what new event is age and skill appropriate for this individual), etc. as goals in doing their entries.
2. Championship Meets - Upcoming Mid-Season Meet Opportunities:
Note: We are currently awaiting meet information on many of these mid-season championship meets. These meets are hosted by a different LSC(PVS), and they set up their timelines and procedures a little differently than Metro. The Potomac Valley Swimming LSC Website can be found here: https://www.pvswim.org/schedule.html Please take a moment to look through their previous year's championship meet information to help get a sense of how things will be run this year.
- Turkey Claus - Self Travel - Prelims & Finals Meet
- No Qualification Times Required
- Any swimmers with NCAP Qualifying times cannot swim those events at this meet.
- Any Swimmer with 4 or more NCAP Qualifying times cannot attend this meet.
- Please CLICK HERE and RSVP Yes/No to this meet and reserve your hotel room (can always cancel) so that we can reserve more rooms if required.
- NCAP Invitational - Team Travel - Prelims & Finals Meet
- Qualification times are now posted. See the meet chart below.
- SSC will be renting Vans for the qualifying athletes to travel as a team, to and from the meet with the Coaches and/or BOD Chaperones.
- This is a qualifying meet, meaning you must swim the specified time in your age group, gender, and event in order to qualify.
- The Last Chance for NCAP Qualification will be 11/19 SSC Distance Turkey Trot (swimmers can time trial additional events between sessions), and the Beginner Time Trial on 11/22 (swimmers can time trial at the completion of the race).
- IMX Team Challenge - Self-Travel - Timed Finals Meet
- This meet is for 14 and younger athletes ONLY.
- An IMX score of 1,800 PowerPoints or higher is required for qualification.
- This is a TIMED FINALS championship meet, meaning each swimmer will swim their events one time each and the final time and placement will be made after one swim. There will be no prelims/finals swim.
- If you are eligible for the IMX meet, you MUST swim all 3 days.
- The IMX program consists of five (5) or six (6) events at longer distances. Swimmers in each age category will need to complete the following events and will need to use the accumulative scores for these events only to determine qualification. A score of 1,800 points or higher is needed for qualification.
- 10 & Under’s - 200 free, 100 back, 100 breast, 100 fly, 200 IM
- 11-12’s - 500 free (400 free for long course), 100 back, 100 breast, 100 fly, 200 IM
- 13-14’s - 500 free (400 free for long course), 200 back, 200 breast, 200 fly, 200 IM, 400 IM (15-18s can get an IMX score but do not compete at this met)
- With the changes at USA Swimming, this year came the temporary loss of the self-report and automatic calculation of one’s IMX Score. The previous method of calculating scores is not currently available. In order to calculate an individual's score, please use the following directions:
- Go to the USA Swimming Individual Times Search
- Type in the athlete's name, and select “Show only fastest by event”
- Add up the “points” column numbers for the events relative to your swimmer’s age group
- If your swimmer will age up prior to the IMX meet, then you can use the “Power Points Calculator” tab, included in the link above to the times' search. By inputting the swimmers' best times into the new age group, you can determine what the new score will be upon move-up.

Many athletes already have this app set up for their school assignments! Swimmers under 17 must have parental supervision when communicating directly to a class owner.
