  • Novice swimmers are new to a swim team, and are learning both improved mechanics of the strokes and how swim practices and competitions work.
  • Most swimmers joining our team who are 10 or under join this group at least for a couple months.
  • Must be able to do 50 yards of freestyle, 50 yards of backstroke, and a bit of breaststroke and butterfly, but they do not have to be perfect (maybe they can do breaststroke arms, and whip kick, but have a hard time putting them together)

  • River Otters have emerged from Novice and are learning more workout structure and race strategy.
  • Must be able to do all of the strokes, and have enough endurance to swim 200 yards freestyle without stopping
  • River Plus is a new option for River Otters who want to swim four times per week

  • Sea Otters are more regularly competing and moving up to higher time standards for competition.
  • All strokes must be legal, they must have time standards in some events. Sea Otters are aware of their competitive standards and are pursuing advancement in skill and competitive placement.

  • Pre-Seniors combine more frequent practices with basic cardio and bodyweight exercises in a dryland routine several days a week.
  • Pre-seniors are committed to improvement in competition, and are aiming for a season's conclusion after training modules and a taper.

  • Seniors balance rigorous workouts, deep analysis of strokes, and challenging variety of weight and dryland workouts.
  • Seniors covers many speeds. All high school-age swimmers should be enrolled in a senior group. 

All practice groups have the Otters Service Commitment

After selecting a practice group, consider the schedule options and coaching staff for that group. Enrollment is a commitment to one specific schedule for that level, not the option to jump in and out of any times or site changes for that level. 

 

 

After your initial registration, billing is automatically charged on the 1st of each month.

  • Please review your bill in the preview that comes out before the end of the month. Use the link and log in to check each charge before it occurs.
  • Let us know if your membership status changes (member or nonmember of the YWCA). Changes need to go into effect before autobilling to be used for a month's billing.
  • All meet fees and other event or gear fees are added to the invoice automatically. Meet fees cannot be refunded if a swimmer misses a meet, as the team is required to pay them before the meet even begins. Once entries are sent to the host team, we will not change our entry fees.
  • Changes after billing has gone through, including cancelations, will be assessed a $25 administration fee.
