The BMA Brookies Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of different ages and ability levels. The BMA Brookies Swim Team offers age-specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual, and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Each year in late August or early September we organize a Splash camp, where new swimmers can try our team for a week. We also invite swimmers to try us out for 1 week at any time during the season before signing up and paying dues. Please click here to send us an email request for more information.

Intro  - Main Coach Eli Boylan

Practice options Monday through Thursday 5:35-6:35 pm, Friday 3:55-4:55 pm, Saturday 8:30-9:30 am.

Swimmer can attend up to 3 practices/week.

Dues $80/month

Ages 5-9

Group ability focus – Learn basic swim skills including pushoffs, streamlines, flip turns, open turns. Learn lane etiquette. Become legal in free, back, and breast (most meets). Can do training sets of 25s and 50s. 90% technique 10% training.

Group behavior focus – Listening skills. We will start this group with pulling them out of the water for discussion so they can work on listening without the water as a distraction. Being kind with their teammates, getting to know names.

 

Novice – Main Coach Noah Brennan

Practice options Monday through Thursday 5:35-6:35 pm, Friday 3:55-4:55 pm, Saturday 8:00-9:00 am.

Swimmer can attend up to 3 practices/week.

Ages 7-11

Dues $80/month

 Group ability focus – Proficient in free, back and breast. Legal fly in most meets. Start learning how to read the clock (start with rest intervals), tight streamlines off the wall all the time, begin work on underwaters and pull outs. Perform proper flip and open turns. Able to train in 50s and 100s. Legal 100 IM in most meets. 75% technique 25% training. IM Ready achievement.

Group behavior focus – Proficient in lane etiquette, begin passing guidelines, learn to encourage each other as well as be kind to each other. Work on listening on cue ex. I’m talking, ears above water, eyes on me.

 

Intermediate – Main Coach Molly DeMarco

Practice options Monday through Thursday 5:35-7:05 pm, Friday 3:55-5:25 pm, Saturday 8:00-9:30 am.

Swimmer can attend up to 3 practices per week. Recommend they choose 2 dryland days and 1 long swim day.

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday will be 30 minutes of dryland 5:25 pm – 5:55 pm, swim 6:05-7:05 pm.

Wednesday, Friday, Saturday will be 1.5 hours swim.

Ages 9-13

Dues - $90/month

Group ability focus – Proficient in all 4 strokes, able to train in all 4 strokes. Proficient at streamlines and underwaters. Introduce crossover turns. Keep working on reading the clock and intervals. Able to train for 200s. Swim legal 200 IM at most meets. IMX Achievement.

Group behavior focus – Listening when coach is talking. Self-accountability meaning be present at practice, mindful swimming, counting own laps and reps, staying on task, leaving problems at the door.

 

Advanced Age Group – Main Coach Caty Flikkema

Practice options Monday through Thursday 5:35-7:05 pm, Friday 3:55-5:25 pm, Saturday 8:00-9:30 am.

Swimmer can attend up to 4 practices or 5 practices depending on group chosen.

Dryland will be held 4:55 pm - 5:25 pm Monday through Thursday and Saturday 9:45 - 10:15 am. Swimmers must participate in 3 dryland days per week.

Ages 11-14

Dues - $100/month (4 days) $110/month (5 days)

Group ability focus – Proficient at crossover turns, proficient at intervals. Train both aerobically and anaerobically. Swim 200s in all 4 strokes and 400 IM legally at most meets. IMX Achievement

Behavior ability focus – Start learning how to be a mentor to the team, encourage teammates, Stay on task.

 

Senior – Main Coach Caty Flikkema

Practice options Monday through Thursday 4:55-7:05 pm, Friday 3:55-5:25 pm, Saturday 8:00-10:15 am. Monday and Wednesday 5:35-7:05 am.

Swimmer can attend up to 4 practices or 8 practices depending on group chosen. We will be doing dryland training from 4:55 - 5:25 pm Monday through Thursday and Saturday 9:45 - 10:15. Seniors are expected to participate in dryland each day they are at practice.

Ages 13+

Dues - $110 (4 practices) $140 (8 practices)

 Group ability focus – Proficient at crossover turns, proficient at intervals. Train both aerobically and anaerobically. Swim 200s in all 4 strokes and 400 IM legally at all meets. IMX achievement.

Behavior ability focus – Team leader and mentor, lead team morale at meets. Help set practice tone by actions and behavior.
