The BMA Brookies Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of different ages and ability levels. The BMA Brookies Swim Team offers age-specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual, and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Each year in late August or early September we organize a Splash camp, where new swimmers can try our team for a week. We also invite swimmers to try us out for 1 week at any time during the season before signing up and paying dues. Please click here to send us an email request for more information.

 

 

Novice Age Group 

Practice options Monday through Thursday 5:30-6:40 pm, Friday 3:55-4:55 pm, Saturday 8:00-9:30 am.

Swimmer can attend up to 3 practices/week. Saturdays are all team days and are not included in the attendance count.

Ages 6-10

Dues $85/month

This group is for swimmers who are new to competitive swimming and want to learn more about the sport. Swimmers do not have to know how to do any of the competitive strokes to join, just be able to show they are comfortable in the water. Emphasis will be placed on learning how to swim the competitive strokes properly, learning the rules of competition swimming, and building a cardio base. It is recommended that swimmers attend 1-2 days per week.

Group behavior focus – Proficient in lane etiquette, begin passing guidelines, learn to encourage each other as well as be kind to each other. Work on listening on cue, examples being; I’m talking, ears above water, eyes on me, etc.

 

Intermediate Age Group

Practice options Monday through Thursday 5:30-7:10 pm, Friday 3:55-5:25 pm, Saturday 8:00-9:30 am.

Swimmers can attend up to 3 practices per week. Saturdays are all team days and are not included in the attendance count.

Wednesday, Friday, Saturday will be a 1.5 hours swim.

Ages 8-13

Dues - $95/month for up to 3 practices/week. 115/month for up to 4 practices/week

This group is composed of swimmers who can complete training sets using Freestyle and Backstroke legally. Technique improvement will be highly emphasized on a daily basis. Longer swims will be introduced while maintaining perfect technique. Swimmers will be expected to attend swim meets as well. 

Group behavior focus – Listening when the coach is talking. Self-accountability means being present at practice, mindful swimming, counting your own laps and reps, staying on task, leaving problems at the door.

 

Advanced Age Group

Practice options Monday through Thursday 5:30-7:10 pm, Friday 3:55-5:25 pm, Saturday 8:00-9:30 am. 

Swimmers can attend up to 4 practices or 5 practices depending on the group chosen. Saturdays are all team days and are not included in the attendance count.

Ages 10-14

Dues - $105/month (4 days) $115/month (5 days)

Swimmers will be making a transition from technique training to more interval/endurance swimming. Technique will always be monitored and focused upon even though the training will be slightly more intense than previous groups. They will develop more distance freestyle and IM style training as well. Group members will also start to make a commitment to the sport of swimming and are expected to compete in swim meets.

Behavior ability focus – Start learning how to be a mentor to the team, encourage teammates, Stay on task.

 

Senior Age Group

Practice options Monday through Thursday 4:55-7:10 pm, Friday 3:55-5:25 pm, Saturday 8:00-9:30 am. 

Swimmers can attend up to 4 practices or 6 practices depending on the group chosen. Monday through Thursday. Saturdays are all team days and are not included in the attendance count.

Ages 12+

Dues - $115 (4 practices) $140 (6 practices)

This group is for swimmers that have made the commitment to swimming. Group members must show the ability to train IM and distance freestyle. The swimmers in this group have made the decision to start more intense training and are willing to strive toward the highest levels of competition. It is recommended that swimmers attend all 4 or 6 practices per week pending the group chosen. Swimmers in this group are expected to compete in swim meets and act as leaders and role models while on deck at competition for the younger swimmers.

Behavior ability focus – Team leader and mentor, lead team morale at meets. Help set practice tone by actions and behavior.
