Katie Price is very deserving of this award for many reasons.  These performances by the AAAA age groupers are a direct reflection of Katie Price’s dedication and passion.  If this award were based solely on accomplishments, it would be hard to find another individual in Missouri Valley who has done more.  These accolades are just a small part of what she does year-in and year-out.

It’s the “little things” Katie does that set her apart as a coach and person.  She takes the time to establish personal relationships with her athletes. She learns what motivates them.  She gets to know them on a personal level.  She is caring and coaches every athlete with equal attention and dedication.  She is a great instructor of technique and work ethic for all of the AAAA swimmers - from beginners to veteran athletes.  She works with all AAAA 14-under athletes each and every practice.

She champions age group and developmental swimming.  She takes pride in hosting meets like the MAL 8-Under Championships, one she was instrumental in bringing to Lawrence, KS years ago.  Making this meet a success for all MVS 8-Under swimmers is important to her.  Creating a love for swimming at a young age is valuable to Katie and she does a great job of encouraging beginning swimming in Missouri Valley.

Katie is the Age Group Chair for Missouri Valley Swimming and she plays a crucial role in planning and organizing meets and events for the LSC. Her impact is felt LSC wide as she leads and shapes the two highest level teams - the MVS All-Star and MVS Zone teams. Whether she is coaching an athlete, coaching alongside a colleague or organizing with a chaperone she is respected and beloved by those who work with her. Her ability to bring everyone together to work as one team is truly a gift and the reason she has planned these events for seven years.

In conclusion, Katie’s influence in Missouri Valley Swimming is unmatched.  Based on the two-part criteria for this award, there is nobody more deserving.  Her athlete performances are impressive - making AAAA one of the top teams in the LSC.  Her impact on age group swimming for our club and for Missouri Valley are second to none.  She has earned the respect of swimmers, coaches and parents alike because of her organization, motivation and drive to bring out the best in the people she works with.  Please vote for Katie to win her first Age Group Coach of the Year Award.
