Eric Huntsman Head Coach

Coach Huntsman founded the Riptide swim team in 2004. He takes great pride in building positive, professional relationships with athletes and families alike. He is proud to have built a program that began with nine swimmers to the 150+ swimmers that form the Riptide family today. He has enjoyed success with Junior National qualifiers on the elite level, as well as beginners learning to touch the wall with two hands on butterfly! He has been coaching for 25+ years for various high schools, U.S.A. clubs and recreational leagues within the Kansas City area. His soft-spoken style belies his talent at getting the best out of his swimmers. He gauges individual success by encouraging each swimmer to reach his or her personal best in practice or in competition.

Coach Eric is a former teacher in the Raytown School District. Eric has his master’s degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. He is proud to be the father of Anthony "Turbo" Huntsman, 23 a 2019 graduate from UMKC as well as Cash Huntsman born on Christmas Day 2014. He resides with his wife Tamra, their 5-year-old son Cash, Dory and Pixie (Mini Dachshund puppies).

Coach Eric is proud to be a "Lifetime Plus" member of the American Swim Coaches Association. He is a lifelong learner in honing his skills as a coach through research-based education set forth under ASCA.

Tyler Calvert Longview Coach

Tyler Calvert has been around swimming since the Fall of 2000 as a swimmer of Raytown South Highschool.  After graduation he became a swimmer for the Riptide for one season before moving towards coaching, and loves every minute of it.  He has many hobbies which include coaching, working out, fly fishing, and cars.  He graduated with his Bachelors of Science Nursing from Graceland University in May 2014 and is now an operating room registered nurse.  As an avid fan of the sport, he is regularly working on bettering himself as a coach and the drills he uses to aid the kids in bettering themselves in the water.  He loves seeing the kids achieving their goals and learning how working hard with smart actions that prepare them for future successes in both swimming and in life.

Alexandra Wilcoxon R7 Coach

Alex (Chicken) Wilcoxon has been a part of the Riptide family for over 12 years. She started swimming for Riptide under Eric at the age of seven and continued to swim and compete all the way to her junior year of high school. After teaching swim lessons for three years, Alex started coaching for Riptide her senior year of high school. Besides spending many years on the pool deck, Alex also spent seven years being a student leader on an internationally successful robotics team and playing and competing in state-level piano competitions. Alex is a positive influence on the athletes, teaching not only how to improve as swimmers, but also how to improve as individuals, and most importantly, as teammates.  

Austin Andes Belton Coach

Coach Austin has been with Riptide for 6 years. He has always been involved in sports and after playing baseball for 13 years, he switched to swim his Junior year of High School. He swam 4 years while attending Simpson College and was Team Captain his Senior year. Austin is the Head Coach for the Ray-Pec High School Boys Swim Team. He also enjoys traveling and has spent 2 months abroad, and speaks Spanish after spending 6 months studying language and culture in Latin America. His 9 years teaching swim lessons combined with his 4 years in the NCAA have given him the experience to work with swimmers of all ages.

Ethan Bock Belton Coach

Coach Ethan joined Riptide summer 2020. Ethan is a Business Major in his senior year at Baylor University. He enjoys watching all sport and traveling. Ethan is a Division 1 swimmer and while in High Shool, was the top 8 sectional finalist in 200 fly, a 2 time team state champion, and 200 medley relay state record holder. He works well with all age groups and has coached swimmers from 5 to 18. Ethan's coaching style is technique oriented and our swimmers have improved under his direction.

Autumn Pacas Bridger

Autumn Pacas has been with Riptide since 2019. She swam for a couple different teams previously including Blue Springs South High School. As she coaches at Bridger, she also attends classes at Metropolitan Community College pursuing a degree in accounting. She loves working with children and is dedicated to the sport of swimming. In her spare time, Autumn loves to go on adventures with her 2-year old daughter, Mia. Autumn is a hard working coach and a great teacher, leading with her big heart helping each child grow as a swimmer and a person.

Robert Atkins Longview Coach

Robert Atkins is a returning Riptide Coach, he has two swimmers Jordan and Emily. In addition to helping develop swimmers, he is the owner of a Farmers Insurance agency -- Atkins Insurance Agency.   He has been an agent for more than 10 years.  Robert grew up in Raytown, MO and still resides there. He feels it is important to give back to the community that gave him so much during his formative years, and by coaching he is able to share some of his passion with tomorrow's leaders. In college, he was a wrestling letterman for the United States Air Force Academy, and qualified for the NCAA Handball Championships while at Southwest Missouri State, now known as Missouri State. His swimming background comes from his youth, where he spent much of his first 12 years in life competing, even posting AAA times in 200 breaststroke.
