Riptide Practice Groups



  • Ages 10 and under
  • Swimmers that can swim 25 yards without assistance
  • Swimmers that can follow instructions and want to learn how to swim competitively
  • Suggested practice 2x a week

  • 12 and under or First-year swimmers
  • Swimmers that can swim higher yardage without fatigue
  • Swimmers who are ready to compete in swim meets
  • Capable of swimming all four strokes and/or improving technique
  • Suggested practice 3-4x a week




  • 13 and over swimmers plus 11-12 swimmers (determined by Head Coach) with at least 3 Championship times
  • High level of dedication to improving skills
  • Mastered all four strokes
  • Able to follow instructions and lead themselves in successful training
  • Suggested practice 5x a week during all non-meet weekends



  • 15 and over swimmers and 13-14 swimmers (determined by Head Coach) with 3 or more Championship times
  • Highest level of dedication to improving skills
  • Mastered all strokes
  • Able to follow instructions and lead themselves as well as others in successful training
  • Full understanding of pace clocks, intervals, and heart rates for optimal success
  • Suggested practice 5x a week during all non-meet weekends




  • Focus on training and competitive efforts at USA swimming upper-level meets
  • Athlete actions and goals reflect the mission statement of USA swimming: To build, promote and achieve competitive success at its highest level
  • Entry by invite only
  • 7 Practices per week (5 evenings, 2 mornings)
  • Swimmers must maintain 90% monthly attendance (high school season exception)
  • 100% swim meet attendance with added additional alternative meet schedule
  • Must attend all Championship meets qualified for
  • College swimmers are welcome to join the competitive elite high-performance group with the head coach's approval



  • Must be a current Independence School District Student
  • Must be placed in a training group available at the Bridger location
