AG1/Flex Green Mon/Th time change, Meets, Summer League and more!

Way to go to all swimmers who did their first Long Course (LC) meet this weekend!

Banquet this Sunday at the Train House at Campbell House, 2:30 pm-4:30 pm.

Summer league starts this Mon/Thurs, 6:30-7:30 pm with stroke techniques.  AG 1/Flex Green will practice 5:00-6:30 pm these days; Pre 1 will continue at 5-7 on Thursdays. If you know of any kids who are interested, they are welcome to try out!

Open Water: Registration open!  All of our kids can swim.  400 M (Fri PM) and 800 M (last race Sat) have buddy waves, where older kids swim with younger ones.  And please sign up for volunteer spots—we want to run a fantastic, safe and efficient meet.

June LC meets:

June 14-16: TAC Titans Triangle Classic; we will be attending Fri/Sat since Sun is Father’s Day!  Our Beach Meet went from a 3 day meet, to 2 day meet, to 1 day meet.  ALL SWIMMERS WELCOME!

June 28-30: NCAC meet at UNC-CH. All swimmers welcome! Our pool is staying busy! We hosted a community swim on Saturday, following the Splash Pad ribbon cutting ceremony.  Spring lessons wrap up next Saturday; summer lessons start June 10. The Boy Scouts are doing their water tests this Thursday evening, and SSS is hosting a lifeguarding course Wed/Thurs pm (neither will impact lane space for practice).

Coming soon:

Open Water Practice (Memorial Day weekend)

Sign ups for Wet N Wild trip (tentatively scheduled for June 9).

The US Olympic Committee, of which USA Swimming is a member, is rolling out their American Development Model for Youth Sports as well as updates to Safe Sport Guidelines.  Harry and Susanne were updated on these changes when they attended NC Swimming's Legislative/House of Delegates weekend in Charlotte in late April.

Both of these initiatives are designed to make youth sports developmentally appropriate and safe.  SSS has placed a copy of the ADM Stages for Youth Sports at the pool; it is accessible through this link as well:  https://www.teamusa.org/About-the-USOC/Programs/Coaching-Education/American-Development-Model/For-Parents  We strongly encourage all parents to read through the booklet--the information is excellent and timely in a culture focused on short term success.
