David Sokolofsky Head Coach & Chief Operating Officer

Coach David Sokolofsky has grown up in the Wilmington swimming community. As an age group swimmer for the Waves of Wilmington, David was a State Champion and YMCA All-American. After graduating from E.A. Laney High School, David attended UNC-Wilmington where he studied Business Administration and swam for the Seahawks. During his tenure at UNCW, David helped lead the Seahawk Men to their first ever conference championship, was co-captain of the team his senior year, and held pool, school, and conference records.

Prior to becoming Head Coach of the Waves of Wilmington in April 2012, David's coaching experience included Master Swim Instructor for the UNCW Swim School, Head Age Group Coach for the Wilmington Y Navigators, and six years as the Head Coach and Director of Competitive Swimming for the Cape Fear Aquatic Club.

David completed his graduate studies through the California University of Pennsylvania, earning a Master of Science in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. He is also certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Performance Enhancement Specialist and Corrective Exercise Specialist.

Jack Eichenlaub Head Age Group Coach

Jack was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA where he fell in love with the sport of swimming at the age of 13. He swam, coached and graduated from Bloomsburg University in 2014 with a degree in Organizational Communications. From there, Jack went on to serve as Graduate Assistant at Nova Southeastern University where he earned his masters in College Student Affairs.

For the last 10 years, Jack has passionately coached at the summer league, club, and collegiate levels including DI Miami (OH) and Florida Gulf Coast University. He’s also held positions as Head Summer League Coach, Head Site Coach, and most recently Lead Coach for the Aquatic Team of Mecklenburg (ATOM), responsible for the advanced 9-10s and Senior 2 practice groups.

Ben Watts Head Site Coach, YMCA Location

Coach Ben spent most of his childhood in Fuquay-Varina, NC, but also spent time living in Connecticut and England, where his family is from. Ben began swimming with his local summer league team and went on to swim for Raleigh Swimming Association in the triangle area. He started his coaching career in 2009 with RSA, coaching a wide age range from beginning swimming groups to senior level groups.

Ben began coaching with Waves of Wilmington in 2015, coaching with Age Group 1, Age Group 2, Development, and Foundations groups, where he has coached swimmers to Top 5 in NC Swimming. In October 2020, Ben took on the role of Head Site Coach for our YMCA location.

Ben graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a B.S. in Environmental Science. He is currently completing his M.S. of Environmental Science and Masters of Public Administration where he is studying food insecurity and derelict vessel removal programming. In his spare time, Ben enjoys working on his boat and motorcycle, playing with his dogs and cat, and fishing.

Jon Suits Lead Coach: Senior 2 + Age Group 3

Me Bio:

Jon grew up in Raleigh, swimming for YOTA. Swam four years for UNCW, Captain Junior and Senior year. Graduated with B.S. in Business Admin concentrating on Finance and Information Systems. Back in school going for M.A.T. Physical Education and Health. I like to hoop and paddleboard.

Anna Flanagan Assistant Coach

Anna grew up in the Western Pennsylvania area outside of Pittsburgh. Swimming year-round through the Pennsylvania YMCA program, she achieved multiple Regional and State Championships. She also earned multiple All-American awards in the Y-Program and several National Runner-Up finishes during her career. Also swimming for her high school team of Greater Latrobe High School, she earned several Regional Championships and a State Championship in 2008 as well as High School All-American status.

After high school, Anna continued her swimming and educational career at East Carolina University. Anna was a team leader for the girl’s team at ECU achieving multiple school records, awards such as Female Swimmer of the Year and helped to achieve the first undefeated Women’s Team, of any kind, in ECU history during her Senior year. Anna moved to the Wilmington area a few years ago with her husband, JD, and works as an elementary school teacher.

Keri Lamontagne Assistant Coach

Keri was born and raised in New Hampshire and made the move down south to Wilmington in the fall of 2019. For as long as she can remember, she always loved to swim and would take any opportunity she got to be surrounded by water. She began swimming competitively for her local team when she was 13 and swam year-round through high school. She then continued to compete for her college’s division II swim team. As both a high school and college student, her summer job was always to teach children swim lessons.

Keri attended Assumption College in Massachusetts where she earned her BA in Mathematics and Education. She graduated as a licensed teacher and then went on to earn her MAT in Mathematics through Providence College. She has worked as an elementary school teacher and has also taught both middle school and high school math. While teaching in New Hampshire, she began a swim club for her middle school students. She enjoyed sharing her passion for the sport with them while she created a positive and motivating environment for the students to improve their stroke technique and become stronger swimmers.

Keri is currently working as a tutor. She works one-on-one with students across all grade levels in various subjects, but mainly math. She enjoys spending any free time outdoors and still loves to swim. She hopes to train for and compete in a triathlon sometime in the near future!

Ana Fish Assistant Coach, YMCA Location

Ana began swimming year-round at age 10 for the Sandhills Sandsharks in Southern Pines, North Carolina. There, she developed her passion for competition and chasing excellence. Ana graduated high school achieving Captain, Most Valuable Swimmer, and Female Athlete of the Year after finaling at the NC State Championships. Ana qualified for multiple National events as a club swimmer.

Ana obtained her undergraduate degree at Wingate University in 2016 where she also competed as a student athlete. Ana finished her competitive swimming career setting a Wingate University pool record, two-time NCAA DII Swimming National Champion, Wingate University Swim Team Captain 2015-16, Nine-time Swimming All-American NCAA Division II athlete, Blue Mountain Conference Champion in 2013, 2015, 2016, and leading the Wingate Women’s Team to ranking 2nd in the Nation in its division.

Ana’s coaching experience includes Assistant Coach for a NCHSS team from 2014-2016 and instructing Swim Lessons for 10 years. In Ana’s time outside of coaching she will be working as a certified Paramedic, Ocean Rescue Lifeguard, and CrossFit L1 coach. Ana likes to spend her free time at church, being active and volunteering in her community.
