Scott Olson Exec. Director & Head Coach - Matthews

Coach Scott joined TEAM Charlotte in 2015 as Head Coach and Executive Director. Coach Scott is the lead coach for TEAM Charlotte's Senior, Presenior and Gold groups at our Matthews location. Coach Scott swam collegiately the University of North Dakota where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Parks, Recreation and Leisure Facilities Management. Prior to joining TEAM, Coach Scott was a collegiate coach at Southern Illinois University (2009-2014), College of Charleston (2006-2009). the University of Tennessee (2002-2005). Scott’s collegiate athletes competed at both Division I NCAAs (including nine NCAA top 40 times), and 2000 and 2012 Olympic Trials. Coach Scott relocated to the Charlotte area in 2015, and lives in Fort Mill, SC with his wife Melissa and their 6-year old son Cooper.

Matthew Johnson Head Coach - Uptown

Coach Matthew joined TEAM Charlotte in 2017. Coach Matthews is the lead coach for TEAM Charlotte's Senior group at our Uptown location. Matthew swam colliegately at Darton College and Union College, graduating from Union with a degree in Health & Human Performance. Matthew was a National Top 8 swimmer and served as captain of his college team. From 2015-2017, Matthew had the great fortune to be a member of the coaching staff at Queens University of Charlotte, and assist with SwimMAC's Team Elite program, alongside 2016 Olympic Head Coach David Marsh. At Queens, Matthew's athletes reached some of the highest levels of competition, including two NCAA Division II National Championships, a Women's Triathlon National Championship, 12 NCAA Individual Championships, 17 NCAA Records, 24 NCAA Champions, two Olympians, and four World Championship athletes. Before relocating to Charlotte, Matthew worked with the University of Michigan & Club Wolverine. Matthew's coaching helped the Wolverines to a Big Ten Championship and a third place finish at the NCAA DI National Championships. Matthew also served as Head Coach for the Mountain Park Sharks and for West Georgia Swim Club. Matthew believes that the best part of coaching is getting to know each athlete and working tirelessly to help them achieve excellence.

Kristina Bond Director of Operations

Coach Kristina joined TEAM Charlotte in 2015. Kristina is originally from Boston, MA, where she grew up swimming and playing softball. Kristina graduated from Queens University of Charlotte in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management at UNCG in 2018. Kristina swam collegiately for Queens and was a CSCAA Scholar All-American. Kristina also served as a team captain at Queens her senior year. After being TEAM's Head Age Group Coach from 2015-2017, Kristina transitioned into the Director of Operations/Associate Head Coach role. Kristina is also the Program Director of Swimming and Varsity Head Coach at Providence Day School, and Head Coach for Barclay Downs Swim & Racquet Club. Prior to joining TEAM Charlotte, Kristina coached for SwimMAC Carolina, Queens University of Charlotte’s Club Swim Team, and Mecklenburg Swim Association. At the state and national level, Kristina has been a part of the NC IMX Camp Coaching Staff for the past four years (2016-2019), an assistant coach for the NC/SC Open Water Select Camp (2019), and an Assistant Manager for USA Swimming's National Open Water Select Camp (2019).

Rob Johnson Head Age Group Coach - Matthews

Coach Rob joined TEAM Charlotte in 2011.  Coach Rob is the lead coach for TEAM Charlotte's silver, bronze, and black groups at our Matthews location. Rob has been coaching for 10 years, and serves as a full-time Age Group Coach at TEAM's Matthews location. Rob swam collegiately at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. In college, Rob was top ten in the 100 back & 100 breast in his conference. Rob is a masters swimmer and has ranked top 10 in the country for the 100 back, 100 breast & 100 free in his age group. Coach Rob first relocated to Charlotte to work with Camp CARE, a camp for children and their siblings, ages 6-17, who have or had cancer. Rob has volunteered at Camp CARE for over 10 years. Before becoming full time with TEAM, Rob was a Paraprofessional Educator for special needs students and worked in the Fort Mill school district for 9 years. Rob was awarded Teacher of the Year for the 2013-2014 school year, and was nominated for district teacher of the year. On the pool deck, Rob has coached multiple age group state and sectional qualifiers. Coach Rob believes that a positive attitude will take you far and a strong work ethic will take you farther!

Kelly Loftus Head Age Group Coach - Uptown

Coach Kelly joined TEAM Charlotte in 2019. Coach Kelly is the lead coach for TEAM Charlotte's presenior, silver, and black groups are our uptown location. After swimming for her high school team in West Chicago, IL, Coach Kelly swam at IUPUI for a year before transferring to Carthage College. At Carthage, Kelly qualified for DIII NCAA's and served as a captain her senior year.  Kelly holds the Carthage school records in the 100 Butterfly, 200 Backstroke and 200 Medley Relay.  Following college, Coach Kelly returned to her club team, the West Chicago Sharks, where she coached for 5 years from 2014-2019. During her time at West Chicago, Kelly was the lead coach for both the 11-14 year old age group and the senior group. Coach Kelly also assisted with the West Chicago Girls high school team and was the head coach of the West Chicago Boys high school team for the 2018-2019 season.  Under her leadership, WCS had numerous state, sectional, Junior National, and Olympic Trials qualifiers.

Steven Johnson Age Group Coach - Uptown

Coach Steven joined TEAM Charlotte in 2019. Coach Steven is the lead coach for TEAM Charlotte's white group, and assists Coach Craig with Bronze group at our uptown location. Steven was born and raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia where he grew up surrounded by a swimming atmosphere. Steven starting his swim career at age five, beginning with summer league swimming. Entering his teenage years, he added competitive diving to his repertoire, but after two back-to-back shoulder surgeries he decided to switch his personal focus from swimming to coaching. Coach Steven most recently coached for Gwinnett Aquatics, in the Atlanta area. Steven worked hand in hand with coach Hugh Convery who has been a leader in the Georgia Swimming community for over 2 decades. At Gwinnett Aquatics, Steven was the lead coach for three groups and brings 5 years of experience with youth development to help lead our bronze and white groups for our 2019-2020 season. 

Alecia Davis Age Group Coach - Uptown

Coach Alecia joined TEAM Charlotte in 2018. Coach Alecia is the lead coach for TEAM Charlotte's gold group at our uptown/JCC location. Alecia was a competitive swimmer for 12 years, beginning at the age of nine and continuing through her junior year of college at Queen University of Charlotte. During her years as a collegiate swimmer, Alecia was named to the Conference Carolina’s Presidential Honor Roll, the BGMC All-Academic Team, and was named a CSCAA Scholar All-American. Coach Alecia started coaching at age 15 as an assistant coach for her summer league team in Greensboro, NC. Alecia also taught swim lessons and coached through the YMCA, and SwimMAC's Swim School and Junior Swim League. Alecia coached at Porter Ridge High School (2013-2014), and has been a varsity swim coach at Providence Day School since 2014. During the summer, she is the head coach of the Providence Downs South summer league swim team. Alecia received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and English Literature from Queens University of Charlotte and a Masters in Mathematics Education from East Carolina University. When she is not coaching, she is a fourth grade teacher at Greenway Park Elementary School, where she has been teaching since 2013. 

Rebecca Baxley Age Group Coach - Matthews

Coach Rebecca joined TEAM Charlotte in 2019. Coach Rebecca is the lead coach for TEAM Charlotte's white and blue groups at our Matthews location. Rebecca is from Santa Rosa, California and began swimming competitively at the age of 10. Rebecca swam all through high school and competed at the collegiate level for the University of Texas at Austin from 2013-2017, where she was a 4x Scholar All-American. While at Texas, Rebecca coached the Longhorn Swim Camp for two summers. Rebecca graduated in 2017 with a degree in Biology with a pre-health certification. Rebecca competed in the Olympic Trials in both 2012 and 2016. After graduation, Rebecca moved to Charlotte with Teach for America and teaches Biology and Earth Science at West Mecklenburg High School. Rebecca is the head coach of Fairmeadows Summer League team in South Park.

Sydney King Age Group Coach - Uptown/Matthews

Coach Sydney joined the TEAM Charlotte coaching staff in 2017. Sydney is originally from Atlantic Beach, Florida, where she grew up swimming and surfing competitively. Sydney swam for Florida State University. While attending FSU, Coach Sydney worked as the Head Coach for Florida State University's Club Swim Team. After completing her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, Coach Sydney worked as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Georgia with their aquatics program while completing her Master's Degree in Educational Administration & Policy. After relocating to Mississippi, Coach Sydney worked at University of Southern Mississippi as an Adjunct Professor, Head Coach for the Southern Miss Masters Swim Team, and served as the Director of Aquatic & Outdoor Programming. Coach Sydney relocated to Charlotte in 2016, which brought her to TEAM Charlotte. When she's not coaching with TEAM, Sydney is an elementary school teacher in CMS. Coach Sydney loves sharing her enthusiasm for swimming with the swimmers on TEAM Charlotte! 

Craig Wasberg Age Group Coach - Uptown

Coach Craig joined TEAM Charlotte in 2018. Coach Craig is the lead coach for TEAM CHarlotte's Bronze group at the uptown location, and assists with multiple other uptown training groups. Coach Craig grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he started swimming competitively at age seven. During his swimming career he managed to break three state records, and earned four Top 10 nationally ranked times.  Coach Craig was a multi-sport athlete in high school earning All-State honors in water polo, while becoming a three time All-American in swimming.  Craig swam collegiately at Eastern Michigan University for the 2014-2015 season, and recently graduated from UNC Charlotte with a degree in Finance.  Prior to joining TEAM, Craig was both an assistant coach and head coach at New South Swimming. Craig is also a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, and a NASM Certified Nutrition Specialist.  

Tara Neltner Assistant Coach

Tara joined TEAM Charlotte in 2019. Tara has been teaching swimming now for 30 years. She began her swimming journey as a student, refined her art as an athlete, and shares her love of the sport through instructing others. Her experience allows her to bring a unique combination of safety, instruction, and competitive swimming knowledge to her swimmers. Tara started her love of water taking swimming lessons at the local YMCA. After passing all of the Y levels, she decided to start her competitive career and swam for the Anderson Barracudas of Cincinnati, OH. During her high school years, she swam for Notre Dame Academy of Park Hills, KY and was part of the 1991 State Championship winning team. She went on to swim collegiately for Centre College in Danville, KY. While still in school, Tara earned her American Red Cross teaching certifications. She was a Water Safety Instructor (WSI), teaching swimming lessons and swimming safety, a Lifeguarding Instructor (LGI), and a CPR/ First Aid Instructor. During this time she was employed by the Red Cross to teach swimming in disadvantaged areas to help serve those who would not otherwise have had access to swim lessons. After college, while working as the Director of Health and Safety Services for the Northwest North Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross, Tara continued sharing her swimming knowledge through teaching swimming as well as lifeguard training. For the past 12 years, Tara has been teaching children as well as adults in Charlotte, NC.

Michelle Parkhurst Assistant Coach

Coach Michelle joined TEAM Charlotte in 2019. Michelle grew up in Northern Virginia and swam competitively starting at the age of 6. Michelle swam collegiately for Clemson University. During her time at Clemson, Michelle qualified for NCAAs all 4 years, set 3 school records, 1 ACC record, and earned Swimmer of the Meet at the ACC Championship her junior year.  Michelle has been a coach at Foxcroft East Swim Racquet & Swim Club for the past 5 summers. During her free time, Coach Michelle enjoys swimming, running and biking and competes in triathlons. Michelle is a 4th grade teacher at Tuckaseegee Elementary, where she has been teaching since 2012.  

Gia Wright Assistant Coach

Coach Gia joined TEAM Charlotte in 2016. Gia's swimming experience began in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with a summer recreational swim team at Sunland Park. After summer league experience, she dedicated herself to year round swimming until leaving Florida to swim at the collegiate level at North Carolina A&T State University, where she earned a swim scholarship to compete for four seasons and accomplished new school records while also serving as the team’s captain. In 2008, Gia was named Senior Female Athlete of the Year by the university’s athletic department. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2008 with a Bachelors Degree in English Secondary Education, and in 2013, finished her Masters of Arts English/African American Literature.  From 2008-2013 Gia assisted Coach Shawn Hendrix with the Lady Aggies Swim Team at NC A&T State University. Prior to TEAM, Gia coached at North Carolina Aquatic Club (NCAC) as an Age Group and Masters Swim Coach. Gia relocated to Charlotte and is currently teaching and coaching at Rocky River High School.

Jason Boudrie, Owner of Elite Wellness, has over 20 years of experience in the fitness and wellness industry. With extensive knowledge of wellness program design and management, implementation, and healthcare reform regulations, Jason has uniquely positioned Elite Wellness to be an industry leading partner for clients as they work to affect the health of their population and reduce healthcare related expenses. Having held certifications from NASM, NSCA, USAW, ACE, and AFAA, Jason has effectively designed and managed strength and conditioning programs for clients of all ages and abilities. Youth performance and general fitness programming has long been a staple of his experience, having worked with thousands of athletes ranging from players as young as eight to High School, Collegiate, Amateur, and Professional athletes. When not hard at work helping others achieve their fitness and wellness goals, you’ll find him working out or enjoying the outdoors with his wife Gunilla, their three daughters, Hailey (20), Emma (13) and Dylan (5), and son, Ryder (2).
