Practice Group Guidelines

Please review the practice groups below.  All of the equipment is required at every practice.  Equipment can be ordered through our Minot Swim Club page at SwimOutlet.com.  We do have some fins and paddles at the pool to help with sizing questions. 

Green

  • New or returning swimmers that do not have all four legal strokes (25 yards). 
  • No competitive experience necessary.
  • Equipment:  Practice Suit, Cap, Goggles, Fins, Paddles, Mesh Bag, Water Bottle

Yellow

  • Swimmers that have four legal strokes (50 yards)
  • Proper lane etiquette
  • Legal starts and turns
  • Understanding of the meet whistles
  • Attend all local meets
  • Equipment:  Practice Suit and Meet Suit, Cap, Goggles, Fins, Paddles, Mesh Bag, Water Bottle

Maroon

  • Swimmers that have the following:
    • Swim 100’s with legal strokes/turns/starts
    • Swim 100-200 IM’s working on endurance & proper technique.
    • Ability to read and follow a practice set
  • Attend all local meets and 1 or more away meets
  • Equipment:  Practice & Meet Suits, Cap, Goggles, Fins, Paddles, Snorkel, Mesh Bag, Water Bottle

Bronze

  • Swimmers that are able to swim 200’s and 400 IM legally
  • Swimmers will be exhibiting good endurance & proper technique
  • Regular attendance is highly encouraged
  • Attend all local meets, various away meets and willing to swim all events
  • Equipment:  Practice & Meet Suits, Cap, Goggles, Fins, Paddles, Snorkel, Pull Buoy, Mesh Bag, Water Bottle

Silver

  • All requirements from the Bronze group
  • High school swimmers
  • Regular attendance is highly encouraged as well as a dryland program
  • Equipment:  Practice & Meet Suits, Cap, Goggles, Fins, Paddles, Snorkel, Mesh Bag, Pull Buoy, Water Bottle

Gold

  • All requirements from the Silver and Bronze groups
  • High School swim team experience and multiple HS state qualifying times
  • Regular attendance is highly encouraged as well as a dryland program
  • Equipment:  Suit, Cap, Goggles, Fins, Paddles, Snorkel, Pull Buoy, Mesh Bag, Water Bottle

Platinum

  • All requirements from the prior group
  • Attain Sectionals Time Cuts or Sectional Bonus Time Cuts
  • Good attitude, role model to younger athletes, team player
  • Equipment:  Suit, Cap, Goggles, Fins, Paddles, Snorkel, Pull Buoy, Mesh Bag, Water Bottle
