Coach Kat's swimming
career started when she was 6 years old. She continued to swim for
Magnus/Crimson Aquatics and the Andover Girls Swim team. She is a
rising senior at Norwich University, where she studies nursing and
competes on the swim team. Her main events include the 500, 1000,
and 1650 free.
Coach Kat volunteered and coached the younger swimmers of Crimson
Aquatics a few summers ago and has experience teaching swim lessons
at the YMCA. She values the importance of connecting with the
swimmers. Making sure the swimmers have someone they can trust has
always been important to her, as she wants them to see her as an
advocate and not as an enemy.
Coach Kat focuses on Pace work and technique, which she believes are key aspects of distance training.
Coach Kat will be working with Pre-Nat/Nat and High School 2 groups.
Coach Abby began
swimming for the ANA Hurricanes team at the age of eight years old
through eleven. She continued competing through a club swim team
from 2009 to 2014 while playing Ice Hockey.
Coach Abby began teaching swimming lessons at the YMCA summer
camp, Camp Nokomis, in 2014.
Coach Abby is currently a teacher in the Haverhill Public
Schools and attending graduate school at Merrimack College, and
lifeguards at the YMCA.
During her free time, she enjoys relaxing with family, friends, and
her pets. She loves to play cards, go hiking, biking and going to
the beach in the summer months.
Coach Abby will be working with Tidal Wave 1, Tornado 2, and Typhoons 1&2 groups.
Coach Nicole is a
senior at Merrimack College and one of the captains of the Varsity
swim team. She currently swims breaststroke and I.M. for the team.
Coach Nicole started swimming in high school for her high school
team and the Peabody Piranhas club team. She has been swimming
competitively for eight years now.
She began teaching swim lessons to all ages in 2014 before
embarking on coaching. She has been a seasonal coach for our team
since 2019.
"I am very happy to be back coaching all of these great kids! I am
thrilled to share my experience with them and looking forward to
helping each child reach their goal as an athlete in the
pool."
Coach Nicole will be working with Typhoons 1&2, Tornado 1, Age Group Elite, High School 1, and Pre-Nat/Nats groups.
Coach Andre began swimming at the age of 10, where he was recruited to join a local swim team in Chisinau, then-USSR. He was selected and attended a specialized all-sports boarding school for talented athletes groomed for future Olympic-level competitions for 5 years before transferring to a regular high school.
His passion for swimming was renewed after joining the Andover YMCA, where he competed on the Y's Masters swim team for several years. Coaching now is his way to share with young athletes his knowledge of and passion for the sport. He is particularly interested in helping swimmers improve mechanics and stroke technique as the way to not only enhance their competitive results but also to discover the joy and beauty of swimming.
Coach Andre has a two-decade-long career in education, at the high school and college level, both as a teacher and administrator. Currently, he works in enrollment services at Northeastern University.
Coach Andre will be working with Age Group Elite, High School 1, Pre-Nat/Nats, Typhoon 1&2 and Tornado 1 groups.
