Michael Spring Head Coach

Mike has 38 years of education, training, coaching and swimming experience.  Leading his swimmers to 10 Junior National records, 24 National Qualifiers, and eight Olympic Trial Qualifiers, Mike has seen his graduates attend nationally-recognized swimming programs such as Harvard, Dartmouth, North Carolina, Texas and Auburn.  Mike also served as an assistant swimming coach at Harvard University for four years. Prior to moving to New England, Mike was a four-year assistant coach at the State University at Buffalo. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the State University at Buffalo in 1990.

Sean Geary Assistant Coach

Sean has been coaching with Crimson Aquatics since 2008. An alumni of Mike Spring's programs, Sean started his swimming career with the team (formerly known as Merrimack Valley Pirates) in 1992. Prior to coaching, Sean swam distance freestyle for four years at Clemson University, where he is most proud to hold All-Time Top 10 honors and was named to the ACC All-Academic Team. Sean holds a BS in Management and Entrepreneurship from Clemson. Outside of Crimson he also coaches the Andover High School Boys Swim/Dive team, where he swam to three Massachusetts state titles in the 500 freestyle during his time as a swimmer. Sean believes that swimmers can have fun at every practice and meet, no matter what challenge is confronting them that day. Sean currently served on the New England Swimming Board of Directors. He is happily married to Coach Jane.

Kristen Paolino Assistant Coach
Kristen has been affiliated with Crimson Aquatics (MAG, MVP) for over 20 years. Mike Spring became the Head Coach during Kristen’s senior year of High School in 1993. She began her college career at SUNY Geneseo where she held records in the 500 free, 1000 free and 1650 free, in addition to becoming an All-American in the 1650 free, and 800 free relay. Kristen returned to the local area and started coaching in 1996, and had a short time away from coaching to start her career in education. She is a third grade teacher in Lawrence, MA. Away from Crimson she enjoys taking spin classes and spending time with family. Kristen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (1999) from Salem State University, and a Master’s Degree in Reading (2003) from Endicott College. 
Daniel Shanahan Assistant Coach

Dan has been coaching with Crimson for 7 years. He attend the University of Maine and competed on the men's Swim Team. Dan enjoys  Running, Trying New Restaurants, Going to the Beach, & Family. His Favorite Thing About Coaching: Get Away Weekend :) and working with awesome swimmers & coaches! Dan is has 3 children, éamus, Jasper, Levi  and dog Mugsy.

Jane Geary Assistant Coach
Jamie Paolino Strength Coach

Jamie is our Strength and Conditioning coach who runs our Dryland training program.

He has been with Crimson since 2014 and program training for all our groups. Jamie

comes from an educational background and enjoys not only coaching his program, but

teaching it too. Jamie has a B.A . from Cambridge with a minor in Education and his

Masters in Applied Exercise Science and Human Performance with a minor in Corrective

Movement from Concordia University/Chicago. Jamie is certified by the National

Academy of Sports Medicine and the National Strength Coach Association with a

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Performance Enhancement

Specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine as well as a Corrective

Movement certification. Jamie is also certified by the Brent Brookbush Institute in Human

Movement. Jamie is married and enjoys time fishing and spending time with his wife.

Nick D'Innocenzo Assistant Coach

Nick is a lifelong swimmer and a product of Mike Spring's coaching philosophy. While swimming for Mike, he qualified for his first U.S. Olympic Trials in 2008 where he placed 15th overall in the 200m IM. He would go on to earn a spot on the National Junior Team and travel to Guam to compete at the Junior Pan Pacific Games. He took gold in both the 200m IM and the 100m Breaststroke for team USA. Before moving on to college Nick broke the National Age Group Record in the 200m Breaststroke, besting the previous standard set by multi-time Olympian and fellow Longhorn, Brendan Hansen. Nick moved to Austin in 2009 as a full-scholarship recruit for the University of Texas Swim Team. Nick helped the Longhorns to an NCAA National Championship Title in 2010. Nick was also named Big12 swimmer of the week in addition to receiving multiple Big12 All-American honors and in 2012, he received the Big12 Conference Most Outstanding Swimmer Award. While swimming at Texas, Nick qualified for his Second Olympic Trials in 2012. Before finishing his swimming career he had the opportunity to train at the University of Florida under Coach Gregg Troy alongside Elizabeth Beisel and Caleb Dressel. It was at this program where he qualified for his third and final Olympic Trials in 2016. Nick got his start in coaching by volunteering for Mike in 2012. Since then he's coached for three USA club teams including Longhorn Aquatics, Gator Swim Club and Lost Creek Aquatics. He has passion for helping swimmers of all ages and levels.
