
Marc Solomon, Coach
Marc Solomon started his swimming as a child at the Newton Corner YMCA in 1956. He swam YMCA, Boy's Club, New England Prep School, and College Swimming. He was also a member of the 1969 National Champion Phillips 66 Long Beach Aquatic Club as well as Co-Captain of the undefeated 1972 Johns Hopkins Team. He has over half a century of involvement in swimming. His B.A. is from Johns Hopkins University and he has a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. He has practiced law on Cape Cod, and taught High School History. He became the head coach of the Cape Cod Swim Club in 1972 when the club was training at The Otis Air Force Base. When the Otis Pool closed he became head coach of the Nashville Swim Club and the Hamilton, Ontario, Aquatic Club. He started the CCSC for the second time at the Mass Maritime Academy in 1978. He has coached his swimmers in Canadian and American Olympic Trials and has twice received the Award of Excellence from United States Swimming.

Ron Zuwallack, Head Coach
Ron Zuwallack has been coaching with the CCSC since 1992 and was named the club’s head coach in 2007. He coaches several of our groups including the National group, the Senior group, and AG3, AG4, and AG5 groups. He also assists with the Junior group. In 2012 and 2014, he was named the New England Age Group Coach of the Year. As a swimmer, Ron joined the CCSC in 1983, swam for Coach Marc, and developed into a National qualifier. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina where he swam four years.

Mark Waters, Cape Cod YMCA Coach
Mark began swimming competitively in High-school for Hebron Academy in Maine before joining the Division I, University of Massachusetts swim team as a distance swimmer. In his senior year Mark, was top six in New England in several events and was part of the New England Championship Squad. Mark holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Fordham University. He has been an assistant coach working with The George School Aquatics Program and was head age group coach for Central Bucks YMCA Dolphins before joining CCSC.

Rhiannon White, Beginner Competitive Coach
Rhiannon was born and raised in Falmouth. She began swimming with the LTS program at Cape Cod Swim Club in 1999. She was coached by Ron Zuwallack for most of her ten years with the club. In 2009 she moved on to Bridgewater State University where she was Captain of the Swim and Dive team for two of her four years. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design in 2013. She has been with CCSC for 7 years. Her previous swim coaching credentials include two years as an assistant swim teacher at Stoney Beach, Woods Hole and two years as head swim instructor for Menauhant Yacht Club.

Bridey Lacouture, Assistant Coach
Bridey was born and raised on Cape Cod. She and her two younger sisters joined the Cape Cod Swim Club in 1994, and she trained with both Coach Marc and Coach Ron. In addition to training with the CCSC, Bridey swam for the Barnstable High School team and was a captain both junior and senior year. She went on to swim at Hartwick College and graduated with a Bachelors' degree in Psychology. Prior to starting her family, Bridey coached all levels of swimmers at the Cape Cod YMCA. Now, she is back at CCSC as a coach and a parent of a young swimmer.

Adrienne Fontes, LTS Lead Instructor/Coach
Coach Adrienne was a swimmer with the CCSC in the 1980’s. It was in the late ‘80’s that she began working as an assistant coach to Marilyn Swain, the creator of the club’s Learn-to-Swim program. For college, Coach Adrienne attended Assumption College and joined the crew team which she co-captained as a senior. She majored in Sociology, minored in Anthropology and had a concentration in Elementary Education. Coach Adrienne began her career as a classroom teacher in Dallas, TX where she taught ESL to fourth and fifth graders for 7 years. In 2001 she returned to Massachusetts and to coaching at the Cape Cod Swim Club. She has worked with pre-k through fifth grades in the Wareham Public Schools and currently teaches Fitness to the kindergarten through sixth graders at Bridgeview Montessori School.

Cholace Lussier, Masters Coach
Coach Cholace Lussier has been a coach with CCSC at every level since 1983. When she joined the Club, her daughters, Denise and Becky, became competitive swimmers and Cholace began helping out. She has a background in aquatics and developed her competitive knowledge by assisting for over 25 years in all of our programs from learn-to-swim to competitive swimming. She presently assists with the Junior and Senior Groups in our program and coaches the Masters Group.

Martha Peterson, LTS Instructor/Coach
Martha Peterson has over 30 years of experience teaching aquatics and Coaching. She has a degree in Environmental/Aquatic Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Martha coaches in our Learn-to-swim program at both Atria and MMA. Martha, now working in Woods Hole, has been a YMCA Aquatics Director for many years and is a Masters’ Swimmer herself.

Mary Nielsen, LTS Instructor
Coach Mary Nielsen has been with CCSC for fourteen years. She is an LTS coach, a Coaches Safety Training Coach and lifeguard for the club. In addition, she is employed by the Wareham Public Schools, Town of Mashpee Recreation Dept and serves as Vice President of the Cape Cod Framingham State Alumni Scholarship Fund. She is also the Scholarship Chairwoman. In her spare time she lives to swim, bike and walk her Siberian Husky. She lives in North Falmouth with her husband Peter, dog and cat.

Koren Pierce, LTS Instructor/Coach
Koren Pierce has been teaching LTS in the CCSC for over 7 years. Koren was an outstanding age grouper in the CCSC and began her swimming career in the 1980s. She still holds one 11-12 age group CCSC record as of this writing. Koren began assisting when her sister, Adrienne, took over the LTS program. She has two children, Chase and Camryn.

Cathy Olson, LTS Instructor
Cathy swam on a summer swim team in Arlington, VA as a child. She earned her BA in French with a minor in History at Connecticut College where she swam for a year. Cathy received her Masters in Elementary Education from Marymount University and taught in Fairfax, VA for 8 years. She is currently certified to teach grades 1-6 in Massachusetts. She is a busy mother of four children. Her daughter swims with the Junior group, and Cathy swims with the Masters.

Bonnie Costa, Assistant Coach
Bonnie Costa is a new member of our coaching team. She was a swimmer for us during her high school years in Coach Ron's Gold group, her best events being the 50yd and 100yd freestyle. She is now a certified fitness instructor who teaches a number of group exercise classes at Get Fit. studio in North Falmouth. She also received her Bachelors in the Science of Nursing from Mass College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and works as a full time nurse at Falmouth Hospital. Given her busy schedule she is only with us as much as she can, working every other Wednesday with J1 and J2 on dryland and filling in other places when she can. Bonnie hopes to be able to give more time someday when her schedule slows down.

Emilee Tholke, LTS Coach
Emilee swam competitively for Brockton High; her events were the 50 and 100 yd freestyle. Her senior year of high school she was the captain of the swim team. She started teaching swimming lessons as a teenager and continued to teach throughout college. Most of her swim teaching career was at the Easton YMCA. She also coached a small swim team and taught the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course for the YMCA. In 2008, she graduated from UMass Dartmouth with a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology. She has been working in Woods Hole as a Fisheries Biologist for the Northeast Fisheries Science Center for the last 10 years. Emilee teaches the Parent and Baby class along with the 3 and 4 year old age groups at Atria.

Morgan Simms, LTS Assistant Coach
Morgan grew up teaching lessons and swimming competitively in southeastern Connecticut through high school, where she was a team captain and school record holder. While in college, she competed in synchronized swimming and attended Nationals. Following graduate school, she lived in Baltimore for 5 years working as an environmental consultant and teaching with the Michael Phelps Swim School. She currently trains with local Cape Cod master's teams and enjoys open water swimming. Morgan has a degree in geology and dance from the College of William and Mary and an MS in Marine Science from Stony Brook University. She works as a coastal geologist in Mashpee.

Patty White, LTS Assistant Coach
Patty grew up swimming and diving at the Oakwood YMCA pool in Dayton, Ohio, and has been swimming recreationally ever since. She has been swimming with the CCSC Masters since 2005, and she also enjoys open water swimming. Patty's two daughters completed the LTS program, and her older daughter Sarah swam competitively with the CCSC and worked as a LTS coach. Patty has a MS degree in geology from the University of Washington and works as a geologist when she's not swimming.

Lisa Rogers, LTS Instructor
Coach Lisa began teaching for the Cape Cod Swim Club in 2017. She grew up in New York and developed a lifelong love of swimming. She was a lifeguard in high school and then spent 7 years in the Coast Guard as a Health Services Technician. She has lived in New York, New Jersey, California, Virginia, Massachusetts and New Hampshire as well as at sea on the CGC Shearwater and Eagle for 2 1/2 years. Lisa is also mom to three young children in our Learn-to-Swim program. She homeschools her children and is a certified tutor for Classical Conversations where she works with children ages 4-6.

Jeff Handler Personal Trainer, Certifications: CPT
Jeff holds a degree in Excercise Science and has several advanced health and fitness certifications. With over 20 years of experience creating programs for clients to achieve their fitness goals, Jeff is one of the most sought after trainers in the country. He has been featured on CBS Sports, Men's Health and he lectures internationally to trainers on the topics of weight loss, sport-specific conditioning, youth fitness and post rehab training. Jeff trains athletes from every major professional sport and worked on the PGA Tour with 2003 Masters Champ Mike Weir.

Erin Flynn, LTS Instructor
Erin Flynn brings over twenty-five years of swimming and coaching experience to the CCSC. A 3-sport varsity athlete at Springfield College, Erin earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health Fitness and Exercise Science. Before joining the club, Erin was the Lead Swim Instructor & Aquatics Exercise Instructor at the University of North Carolina, as well as Bard College. Erin also coordinates the summer programs at Cape Cod Academy.
