RAYS Spooktacular meet wrap up
Sorry this took so long to publish, but the Sailfish had a pretty great start to the short course season at the RAYS Spooktacular meet. We had 17 swimmers at this meet and they posted 41 best times between them! This meet was not a scored meet so I’ll just highlight best times here.
For the 8 & under bunch, we had Azar Emerson, Adele Green, Addison LaRochelle, Moriah Longval, Lulu Swinehart, Kevin Ward and Josie White swimming for us. Azar kicked things off with best times in 2 of his 3 events, an over 2 second drop in the 25 back and over 6 seconds off in the 25 free. Nice work Azar! Adele is just starting her Sailfish career so she had no previous times to compare to but she swam 4 good events and got times for the future. Nice going Adele! Addison got a best time in her 25 back. Way to go Addison! Moriah swam 5 events and got PRs in 3 of them, the 25 back, 50 breast and the 25 free. Good job Moriah! Lulu had a pretty good meet with 2 big drops, she took off almost 9 seconds in her 50 free and over 11 seconds in her 25 fly. Good job Lulu! Kevin was our “biggest loser” for this meet with an amazing 33+ second drop in his 50 free. Way to go Kevin! Josie was also swimming in her first meet as a Sailfish and swam 3 strong events for a good start to her Sailfish career. Nice going Josie!
Chocorua Longval was our lone 10 & under swimmer at this meet but she showed some good stuff with 3 PRs out of 5 events, in the 50 breast, 50 free and a very impressive 15+ second drop in the 100 free. Nice going Chocorua!
Our 12 & Unders were: Maisie Emerson, Megan Gerardi, Riley Pope, Ava Popielarz, Chael Smithson, August Swinehart and Xindi Thomas. Maisie, scored a hat trick with 3 for 3 best times in her 100 breast, 50 free and 200 breast, knocking almost 10 seconds off in the 200 breast. Way to go Maisie! Megan was right behind her with a 3 out of 4 events with PRs, her 100 IM, (where she dropped over 24 seconds!), 50 free and 50 fly. Nice going Megan! Riley was 4 for 4 PRs with a great swim in her 200 free, dropping 0ver 22 seconds from that events. She also PRed in the 100 IM, 50 back (16 + seconds!), and the 100 free. Way to go Riley! Ava had PRs in her 50 back and 50 breast. Good job Ava!. Chael had a good meet, his first a Sailfish, where he posted times way faster than his coaches guessed so nice going Chael! August was 5 for 6 with PRs, knocking off time in his 50 back, 50 breast, 50 free, 50 fly and 100 free. Nice work August! Xindi was 2 out of 3 for PRs wth best times in her 50 breast and 100 free. Nice going Xindi!
Our 13 & over group had Madilyn Adler, Tim Dodd, Lauren Green, Grace Howe, Sabine Karanouh, Lily Peterson, Margaret Rivard and Thanida Thomas swimming for us. Maddie swam 3 events with solid swims just a little off her best times but it’s early in the season and we know her times will come down. Tim was 3 for 3 PRs with 8 + second drops in both his 200 IM and his 100 breast and almost 3 seconds in his 100 fly. Nice work Tim! Lauren had a huge 26 + second drop (our 2nd biggest loser!) in her 100 fly. Way to go Lauren! Grace dropped over 6 seconds in her 100 back. Nice going Grace! Sabine was 2 out of 4 with PRs in her 100 breast and back. Nice going Sabine! Lily took off over 7 seconds in her 200 IM. Nice job Lily! Margaret swam 6 events with times near her best times as did Thanida Thomas in her 3 events. Like Maddie, it is in the early part of the season for these two Sailfish, so we know those times will drop soon for both girls.
All in all, this was a pretty solid start to our season. We can look forward to a strong showing in the pool this year from our Sailfish with a start like this.
Congrats to all the Sailfish on a nice meet!
