Hats off to Chael Smithson for completing the most laps of anyone at the Swim-A-Thon over the weekend. He did 150 laps (1 lap = 50 yards), or 7500 yards! My shoulders are sore just thinking about that. Good job Chael!

Our Sailfish ended the season in fine fashion recently at the NHSA championship meet held at the UVAC pool. Although somewhat hampered by injuries and illness, we managed to once again score in the top 6 teams and take home a banner. This was a scored meet with the top 16 places being scored, so I will highlight those finishes as well as personal records (PRs). At the NHSA Champs meet recently, Thanida Thomas became the newest member of the "sub club", after breaking the 1 minute mark in the 100 freestyle for the first time. And break it she did! While most people break into that club by a few tenths of a second on their first under 1 minute swim, Thanida crushed that by going almost a full 2 seconds under the minute with a teriffic swim. Nice going Thanida!

Please join me in sending out big congratulations to Lily Peterson for breaking the Sailfish team record for the girls 15-18 500 freestyle at the NHSA Champs meet at UVAC. Lily had a strong swim and broke the old record by over 14 seconds! Way to go Lily!

Big congrats go out to our Sailfish high point finishers at the B Championship meet that was held at UNH recently. This meet was scored and the top 6 individual points totals were recognized with awards. For the 8 & under girls, Lulu Swinehart finished 1st overall! At the recent 15-18 Age Group Championship meet we had 2 Sailfish swimmers qualify to swim. Lily Peterson and Thanida Thomas represented the Sailfish at this meet at WPI. Lily swam 4 events and qualified for the finals (top 30) in her 100 & 200 breaststroke events, with a PR in her 200 breast. She was seeded 46th in the 2 breast and ended up 31st at the end of the finals round. She also improved her standing in the 100 breast, from 53rd to 30th after the finals. In...

The 10 & under champs meet was held at the University of Rhode Island pool recently, and several Sailfish swimmers went to the meet. This meet is basically the Age Groups meet for 10 & unders where swimmers from all over New England have to meet pretty competitive cut off times to qualify to swim at this meet. This is a prestigious meet and only the top 20% of swimmers in New England make the cut times, so just qualifying to swim at it is an accomplishment. This year, they...

The 2023 Silver meet is in the books and the Sailfish came away with some pretty good swims at the meet. The meet was held at the Sterling YMCA in Beverly MA, one of our favorite pools, and it didn’t disappoint us. The Hogan Pool was a good setting for the Sailfish at a recent swim meet hosted by UVAC at that facility. Once again, the Sailfish posted many best times and many qualifying times for the upcoming USA swimming championship meets. This meet was not scored so I’ll list PRs and top 6 finishes.
