***ATLA WEEKLY UPDATE - March 20th to 26th***
Good morning team,
I hope everyone had a great weekend! We had some fast swimming down at CRA over the weekend with 4 of our swimmers making it back to finals to score points. Congratulations to Abdo Ahmed, Youssef Ahmed, Dylan Nichols, and Katie Rocha for helping ATLA to a 12th place finish out of 17 teams. Wicked awesome with only 4 point scorers!

SPRING SEASON INFORMATION
- After a meeting with the YMCA on Friday, they have informed me that instead of working with us to lower rates to a fair market price to match PIP, DIP, UNH, etc they are going to be raising the rates again from $30 per lane to $50.
- This increase is completely unsustainable. That would add about $65 MONTHLY to each of our swimmers and that is JUST for lane space at a facility that has mushrooms growing from the walls and mold so bad the ceiling is falling apart. For three days a week.
- I have informed the YMCA we will no longer be renting from their facility unless they want to discuss a fair rental rate. The executive director told me we could meet again in mid-April as he is going to try and convince upper management this is a terrible idea, but I am not holding my breath.
- That being said, for April and part of May our swim schedule will be cut down to 3 days per week at the PIP. Kraken, Leviathan and Siren will be swimming the first hour (6:30-7:30 on Mon/Wed and 5-6 on Fri) while Hydra, Triton, and Poseidon will swim the second hour (7:30-8:30 on Mon/Wed and 6-7 on Fri).
- Once I have final numbers, I may be able to extend the Poseidon workouts to 2 hours on some days. We also will be moving outdoors to UNH on the days we have lost the YMCA once they open up, as well as our Jenny T pool time.
- SOLO has offered to pair with me on a few days we do not have Y space any longer either. They are small on Tues/Thurs at the PIP so I am working on buying some lanes off them for our older groups to get more water time until SOLO also moves outside.
- Lastly, we are going to push our Spring season start date back to April 24th in order to possibly give the YMCA a few weeks to figure out they need us and make a fair deal with us. I also need to travel to Denver CO that week for the USA Swimming convention. Hydra/Triton/Poseidon will start the week before but with workouts I will send for you to do on your own!
- The executive director at the YMCA hopes to give us more space at less money by fall.
- I am doing my best to make this all work! If any of you parents have high connections at the Granite Y organization or in the city of Portsmouth, please reach out to me and maybe we can coordinate a chit chat with some of these folks.
