Why EDGE?

For our summer team, having an indoor pool is a huge advantage. No canceled practices, no blue lips...your swimmer will be able to maximize their training opportunities more than any other team in the state! Our swim family also receives a team cap, team t-shirt, and State Championship meet fees included with their registration.

When an individual joins the EDGE swim club, they are treated as a highly valuable and important individual. But more importantly, they are welcomed to a family and community that values all with equal weight regardless of their accolades. At the EDGE Swim Club, we believe in the success of every athlete both in and out of the pool, regardless of their age, gender, background, or whether they are new to the sport or qualifying for national-level meets. Every coach is invested in helping swimmers realize their potential and facilitating the growth of our athletes.

We are a team that focuses on process over result. By honoring themselves and their teammates with their effort, we know our athletes can achieve greatness. While best times, medals and ribbons are excellent signifiers of success, we teach our swimmers that they can feel just as good if they nail their race strategy, celebrate their teammates' success, make a new friend, and remain focused on the present. Placing the process over the result also means treating teammates like family and displaying the best sportsmanship in the pool. At almost every meet we attend, we get compliments from other teams about how well our team gets along and how much we resemble one big family. We take tremendous pride in that and put on multiple team events throughout the season to strengthen that bond we have as a swim family.

Administratively, our coaches work hard behind the scenes to make sure communications and operations are smooth and transparent for our families. The EDGE Swim Club utilizes a seamless and easy-to-use registration system that takes the headache out of joining a sports team. Simply register online and you will have your USA Swimming registration, medical release forms, and payment completed within 10 minutes!

Our athletes have access to tremendous facilities and services on site that our competitors simply can't offer. The EDGE has physical therapy, registered dieticians, personal trainers, the Parisi Speed School, a state-of-the-art astroturf, as well as multiple locations throughout Chittenden County for when swimmers need to take that extra step outside of their practice time in Williston. Our partners in each department of the EDGE are dedicated to the success of our athletes, and we can't wait to work with you!

What is Summer Swim Team?

Our Summer Swim Team program takes place from mid-June until early August. It is an extremely fun and relaxed program with a welcoming environment! Similar to other club sports like soccer and hockey, swimmers train with their practice group and compete in meets throughout the season, ultimately finishing with the championship meet they have qualified for. With plenty of swim meets located right here in the Champlain Valley, there are tons of opportunities for swimmers to gain confidence and have fun with their teammates. The season concludes with the Champlain Valley Swim League championship meet, followed by the Vermont Swim Association state championship meet the next weekend.

The team partakes in weekly team building activities and games with our Fun Fridays that conclude with a bagel brunch that is provided for. Swim meets are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as far north as St. Albans and as far south as Middlebury, and typically last from 5:00-8:30 PM. In addition to practices, Fun Friday’s, dual and championship meets, the EDGE partakes in a variety of team building activities to create summer memories that will last a lifetime!

We offer a very flexible and laid-back environment on the EDGE Summer Swim Team. Swimmers may choose to attend five practices per week or as few as one practice per week. With this provided flexibility, it is an expectation that families communicate clearly which meets and practices they can’t attend and honor their commitments to those which they are attending. For the best results, and to truly benefit the most from our program, we do strongly advocate for maximizing participation.

Through practices, team events, swim meets and community service efforts, our athletes learn so much more than just technique, endurance, and race strategy. They learn to become stronger individuals. They learn to give their best effort to contribute to the efforts of the whole team. They learn that part of becoming a great swimmer is giving back to the sport that teaches so much about dedication, camaraderie, focus, and how what you get out is only as much as you put in. Our summer team is where so many of our USA Swimming program's swimmers learned to love the sport!

During the season, one of our biggest goals is to turn our swim team into a swim family, and we hope you will join our excellent coaching staff and wonderful swimmers as we practice together, compete together, donate time to the community together, and have numerous team events together as we make that happen! We offer a one week trial period so families can see what all the fun is about! Learn more about it in the enrollment section of this page.

Training Levels Offered: Shark Pups, Black-Tip Sharks, Blue Sharks, Great White Sharks

Communication

Summer Team Head Coach:
 Logan Hall-Potvin | loganh@edgevt.com

Our coaching staff works hard to make sure our swim family stays well informed throughout the whole season. There are monthly bulletins that families can refer to for important information, communications before and after meets so everyone knows what to expect, as well as other supplemental information.

We ask that families check their email regularly as that is our primary method of communication. We also strongly utilize our social media channels and the News section of the website to keep everybody informed. If you have any questions about the information on this page, please contact the following coaches:

Practice Schedule

The EDGE Swim Club makes an amazing first impression during our first week of practice. It is all about FUN! We will dedicate time to each practice during this first week to ice-breaker, team-bonding, and full-team activities before swimmers head to the water for brief practices and swim assessments by age. You don't want to miss our first week!

All practices after the first week begin with 15 minutes of stretching and a dynamic dryland warmup! Each Friday will be our Fun Friday! The team will participate in fun water activities within their own age group/practices and conclude with full team activities such as fun relays and games! At 10:00, our Fun Friday is concluded with a complimentary bagel brunch!

Afternoon practices are ONLY for families with morning/day-time commitments! Swimmers with a Driver's Ed class, a day-camp, partners with work in the morning, etc.

Parent Volunteers

Swimming is a sport that is impossible without the generous and hardworking support of parents working at meets. For example, without a sufficient number of officials, the meet would be judged and could even be forfeited.

We have made it easy to be a volunteer! Signing up for positions can be done right from the calendar, and there is a document that explains how to perform each volunteer job. To access this document and lots of other great resources, check out the Parent Resources Tab!

Each volunteer job is assigned a certain number of "credit hours." As one of the largest teams in the state, we will be expected to fill many volunteer jobs and we expect every family to do their part. Each family must fill at least two credit hours before the conclusion of the summer.

We require that all families contribute towards the winning effort of the team through working meets. There is a $75.00 opt-out fee for families who do not wish to volunteer for the season or do not meet the required number of credits (4) by the end of the season. This amount will be charged to the card on file at the conclusion of the season.

Registration

Trial PeriodWe want the environment and training style of our awesome swim family to speak for itself. Come see why so many families have trusted us with giving their swimmers the best experience! We offer a one-week trial period. If you love it and decide to come on board, we will count your first day of the trial period as the start of your billing cycle. If it doesn't work out, we won't charge you a dime. Look around the site for more information and contact us with any questions!

First Steps
We always recommend starting with a swim assessment to see if the swim team is the right fit for your athlete. It takes about 15 minutes and we will observe your swimmer's ability and talk with you about the appropriate next steps! There is more information about our Summer Team training levels (such as ability requirements) by clicking the Training Levels Info button below.
