AT-A-GLANCE:

  • Congratulations, EDGE Family! We have completed our first week of CVSL Dual Meets with a 2-0 record. Parent volunteers stepped in, swimmers gave it their all, and we had tons of FUN! Read on to read more about our adventures from week three of our summer season.

SPORTSMANSHIP SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK

  • Oleksiy (Alexey) Plavshudin! This submission said, “Alexey gave his 200 breast stroke HIS ALL on Sunday night at the [Jenny Thompson Long Course] Meet - dropping a staggering 17.89 seconds off his original seed time. This is remarkable - but what is more remarkable is Alexey's attitude - through thick and thin this swimming year, Alexey has worked and worked - never giving up - even when his times at meets didn't necessarily reflect the heart and work he always gives. He gets so much credit for working, waiting, being patient and never giving up! Go Alexey!
  • Eric Fry! This submission said, “Bringing only 48 swimmers out of 119 to a dual meet is never an easy task for a team, and often requires swimmers to swim in an age group other than their own. Eric stepped up big time as the only 8 & Under boy and swam with the 9-10 boys so that they could have a relay! It can sometimes be nerve-wracking to do this, but Eric was all smiles and we are so proud of his courage and selflessness. Way to be an awesome teammate, Eric!

DUAL MEET VS VERGENNES

  • Win 280-209
  • Recap: Our friends from Vergennes brought fantastic energy and loud cheering to our Eastwood pool for the first CVSL Dual Meet of the season. Vergennes continues to grow as a team and is one of the most respected team in the state for their talent and sportsmanship. Our EDGE swimmers were up to the challenge, cheering loudly between races and giving their best effort in the pool. Our older swimmers stepped in to help our newer swimmers to navigate what can be a very hectic (but fun!) environment. Our parents also contributed to our first win of the season by sacrificing their time and energy to fill our volunteer roles, which helped us end BEFORE 8:00PM!

DUAL MEET AT MIDDLEBURY

  • Win 289-177
  • Recap: Middlebury is known for their awesome pool, friendly swimmers, and their experienced parent volunteers! They are a very tight-knit community, and we were so thrilled to compete against our friends from down south. Bringing only 48 swimmers, the meet moved by FAST, ending at 7:30 PM! Our swimmers stepped up when needed, displayed excellent sportsmanship, and enjoyed some fun in the sun! Best of all, an early finish meant a team trip to A&W for their signature Root Beer Floats and lawn games. Thank you to our parents for doing an amazing job filling in all the positions we needed—it was a small crew, but we got the job done and came away with the victory!

TEAM EVENT: Mt. Philo Hike!

  • Vermont can sure be beautiful in the summer! We brought 34 kids and 19 adults up to the summit of Mt. Philo to spend some team bonding time with Cornhole, football, bagels, and just enjoying one of the best views in Vermont! We had so much fun and we thank all the parents for coming to join us and making sure everything was ready for us when we arrived at the summit. What an awesome family we are becoming!

Here's to an even better Week 4! Go EDGE!!!
