GMA Team Reminders Week of July 19th, 2021

Laura Matuszak

Dear GMA Families,

GMA is off to a great start at the New England Championship Meets.  Athletes at the New England 11-12 and 13-14 Age Group Championship Meets achieved a combined 80% personal best timesCombined, they scored 46 points and we look forward to increasing our team best times percentage and  point score at the New England 15 and Older Championship Meet this weekend in Manchester, New Hampshire.  Please click HERE to link to more meet information for the New England 15 and Over Meet. We are LOVING our racing opportunities as precious time together as a team to support our teammates in their goals.  We have seen such positive attitudes, outstanding athlete effort, excellent determination and wonderful family love.  Thank you for sharing these joys through the competitive swimming experience.

Ross Sports Center - Building Protocols

All GMA swimmers, coaches and parents are reminded of the Saint Michael’s College Ross Sports Center protocols.  During normal hours of use, Saint Michael’s College requires all guests of the college (that includes Green Mountain Aquatics swimmers, coaches and parents) to wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status.  In an effort to keep the college campus healthy and safe for all Saint Michael’s College students, faculty and staff, GMA team members are reminded to please wear your facial mask when using Ross Sports Center.  This is especially important when we enter through the main doors, use the main lobby area and use the bathrooms.  We thank you for your attention to this college protocol.

New England Silver Meet 2021

The New England Silvers Meet entries are due next week.  We have extended the GMA entry deadline and we encourage EVERY GMA swimmer to consider participating in this long course meet in Manchester, New Hampshire on Thursday, August 5th through Saturday, August 7th.  Please sign-up NO LATER THAN Saturday 7/24/21 at 9:00 PM.  Please note:

  • Swimmers with one qualifying time for the meet can enter an unlimited number of 50 and 100 events but only swim in six (6) individual events per day (including time trials)

Vermont Senior Games Swim Meet THIS SUNDAY, July 25th, 2021 from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM at Sand Hill Pool in Essex

We need every GMA family who is in town and available this Sunday to VOLUNTEER to support the Vermont Senior Games Swim Meet at Sand Hill Pool.  We are in desperate need of TIMERS and OFFICIALS to run the meet.  The volunteer hours needed are between 9:30 AM and 12:00 PM.  Please show your support for our sport by volunteering your time to provide an opportunity for Vermonters over the age of 50 to race at Sand Hill Pool!  GMA can provide community service verification paperwork for any athletes who track community service hours for school.

We are putting a special CALL OUT TO GMA OFFICIALS to please come support these athletes by providing them the best officiating around!  We need your help PLEASE!

Please click HERE to sign-up to volunteer.  You can also text or e-mail Laura Matuszak directly to get on the volunteer list.

We have 4 more weeks of the Camp Splash! program and we are very proud of our GMA swimmers who have volunteered in the program.  So far, 6 GMA athletes have served as volunteer teachers with the Camp Splash! program and provided quality instruction for children in need at the Myers Pool in Winooski!  We get to have a positive impact through swimming with MORE local families this summer.  Please click HERE to sign-up and get involved with Camp Splash! this summer!

Thank you to Saint Michael’s College swimmers Lauren G. and Marisa B. for stepping up BIG TIME to teach swimming lessons for the Town of North Hero.  We are humbled by their tremendous leadership, their outstanding teaching and their can-do attitudes.  We can’t wait to support their efforts on the SMC team this season!

We will see you ALL at the pool soon!
