About our Club

Kingfish swimming was founded by Jay Craft, a former Olympic Trials swimmer and NCAA Division 1 All American.  Kingfish Rhode Island (KFRI) is an extension of Kingfish Swimming and is headed by Matt Emmert, Head Swimming & Diving Coach at Roger Williams University, & Connor Devers, Assistant Swimming & Diving Coach at Roger Williams University.

Kingfish Rhode Island provides all levels of swimming, from local, regional, national, & Olympic Trial level swim meets. Our staff, a mixture of Recreational, USA, High School and Collegiate Coaches, provide opportunities for swimmers at all levels to train and compete year-round.

Kingfish Rhode Island Mission Statement:

On Kingfish RI, our mission is to promote a safe & healthy competitive environment through principles of teamwork & technique. Our staff of Rec, Club, High School, and NCAA coaches work to pass their experience and knowledge to our athletes so that they may gain the experience and knowledge they need to find success, both in and out of the pool. We believe that positive processes produce performance, and with this in mind, no dreams are too big or small for our team. And, when we work together to realize those dreams, we all become Stronger Together!

Kingfish RI Vision Statement:

KFRI’s vision is to use swimming as a path to teach skills that develop responsible, resilient people, both inside and outside the realm of athletics. We strive to show that any person can achieve success in our sport by teaching our athletes an appreciation of consistency, effort and resilience. We believe our values will lead us to become the preeminent swimming club in Rhode Island & the gateway USA club for athletes of all backgrounds and talents, and through this, one of the top clubs in the Regional & LSC levels.
