Parent Meeting Recap Email

Paul Mueller

Hello SOLO Nation,

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend out Haverhill Site Parent Meeting. This email will recap what was discussed at that meeting. As always, please email Meghan or Paul with any questions we did not get to answer at the meeting.

Thank you all for your patience as we worked through some scheduling experimentation and issues! We have updated the 2019-2020 schedule; it can be found here.

Our Meet Calendar has been updated, and all meets are open for registration. Please declare your Athlete's intention to “Attend” or “Decline” each meet. You may add “Notes” to the registration if your Athlete can only attend a portion of the meet.

We have consolidated our Home Meet Schedule at Haverhill High School in the hopes of increasing the attendance of our own Athletes, as well as Athletes from other Teams. These meets are an excellent opportunity for our Athletes to race in a familiar environment, especially our younger Athletes and those new to the sport, and your invaluable help supports the program! SOLO is lucky enough to have a great facility at which we can run great meets! We look to our community to help as volunteers in order to keep these meets successful. Especially with the new block upgrades to the facility, we are excited to see our Athletes race, and anticipate a fast season!

We are always looking to expand the number of Officials we have on deck at our home meets, as well as away meets, and at the NES Championship level. Becoming an Official is a way to become an informed supporter of our Athletes, and a supporter of the sport in general. SOLO offers reimbursement for costs incurred certifying new and returning Officials if these Officials then work all of our home meets.

There is an Officials Clinic being held at the Greater Lawrence Vocational and Technical High School on September 21. Please check your email for the flyer with details, such as directions and the times of courses, is attached to this email as a PDF, and, we cannot stress this enough, we are excited to have as many officials as possible on our team!

Each group has a small fundraising requirement that was explained in the registration packet. We will have multiple opportunities to satisfy this requirement throughout the year, including our successful and fun Yankee Candle Holiday Gifts fundraiser. These packets are available for pick-up at practice throughout the week (thank you, Leah Sullivan)!

Please visit our SafeSport tab on our Homepage for access to all of the necessary SafeSport documents and protocols. A reminder that all NEW Athletes and Families must read and acknowledge understanding of USA Swimming’s Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP). Additionally, all Athletes 18-years-of-age and older must complete the Athlete Protection Training (APT) Course. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to ensure our team maintains compliance with all USA Swimming and Center for SafeSport directives.

Each group is required to have specific equipment at every practice. The list of this equipment will be included in the description of your Athlete’s Training Group. This equipment is available through our Team Store but can be purchased through any shop or vendor selling equipment.

Team Store:

We have changed vendors for all team equipment and apparel. Please use the Team Store link found on our Homepage for ordering team-related items (such as suits, equipment, and apparel). The window for ordering personalized apparel has been extended through September 14 (this Saturday). Team suits and SOLO caps, however, can be ordered throughout the season.

The Coaching Staff is excited about this season, and we are appreciative of the continued support from the parents of our community. As mentioned at the beginning, please email Meghan or Paul with any questions we did not address in the email above, and, as always, we look forward to seeing you at practice!
