Training Groups and Training Equipment
2021-2022 Training Groups
Age Group 1
- 10&Under (some young 11 year old) swimmers who are relatively new to year round competitive swimming
- 3 practices/week (2 weekday afternoons, 1 weekend)
Age Group 2
- 11-12 year old swimmers who are competing or striving to compete at Silver and Age Group level meets within New England Swimming
- 4 practices/week (3 weekday afternoons, 1 weekend)
Junior
- 12-14 year old swimmers who are competing at Silver and Age Group level meets within New England Swimming
- These swimmers are ready for 2 hour practices to take their training to a more competitive level
- This group requires attendance at practice of 4 days a week on average and attending 70% of meets offered
- All end of season meets required
- 5 practices/week (4 weekday afternoons, 1 weekend)
High School
- High School aged swimmers who are continuing to develop technique and endurance
- This group is comprised of Regional and Silvers level swimmers
- There are no attendance requirements for this group for practices or meets
- 4 practices/week (3 weekday afternoons, 1 weekend)
Senior
- High school aged swimmers, who are completing at or striving to complete at the Age Group level within New England Swimming
- Attendance requirement for practice (outside of high school season) is 6 days a week and 70% of meets
- During high school season it is strongly suggested that swimmers attend practice 1-2 days a week
- All end of season meets required
- 7 practices/week (1 weekday mornings, 5 weekday afternoons, 1 weekend)
Senior United
- High school aged swimmers who are competing at or striving to compete at New England Seniors and higher level meets
- Attendance requirement for practice (outside of high school season) is 6 days per week with 7-8 practices per week strongly suggested and 70% of meet
- During high school season it is strongly suggested that swimmers attend practice 2 days a week
- All end of season meets required
- 8 practices/week (2 weekday mornings, 5 weekday afternoons, 1 weekend)
Equipment
It will be important for your swimmer to have their own training equipment. SwimOutlet is a great place to purchase equipment. Here is a list of the equipment that USC swimmers should have:
- Kickboard (any brand)
- Paddles (we strongly recommend Finis agility paddles)
- Pull buoy (any brand; suggestion - Sporti pull buoy)
- Fins (any brand; suggestion - Sporti floating swim fins)
- Mesh bag to house equipment (any brand)
- Snorkel for Junior, High School, Senior and Senior United groups (suggestion - Finis glide swimmer’s snorkel)
Recommended but optional equipment:
- Tempo trainer for 13& overs (Finis tempo trainer pro)
- Drag sox (Aquavolo- medium resistance)
