LvO Baystate Games Swimmers in the news!

Yet another World Record for YNS' Victoria Arlen, this time she did it in Canada!! Victoria broke the 200 Freestyle record by nearly 7 seconds setting up what is to be the race of the Paralympics with the swimmer from Britain in the 400 Freestyle whose records she has eclipsed!! Congratulations Victoria!!! GO SHARKS!!!

  Congratulations to Astrid Swensen for representing YNS with class!!! Astrid finished 85th moving up 50 spots from her seed. Astrid was 3rd out of all of the New England swimmers in the 200 Butterfly.

Congratulations to the 29 Sharks who travelled up to Vermont for the 12 & Under Championships!! We got 7th overall out of the 80 teams. We had 2 new team records Eleanor Ronan in the 50 Backstroke & Henry Savage in the 100 Butterfly. Everyone swam outstanding and each swimmer should be applauded!! Go Sharks!!

This past weekend the 13-19 NE Age Group Championships took place @ MIT, this meet covered the entire New England area of over 80 Teams. The Sharks placed 4th overall while each swimmer had a hand in the result!! Astrid Swensen broke the New England Swimming 13-14 Girls 200 Butterfly record, the record was 23 years old, her time of 1:59.89 eclipsed the record by over 2 seconds!! Each year, USA Swimming recognizes its members who excel both in the classroom and in the pool. The Scholastic All-America Team is made up of high school student-athletes who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and who have achieved the required time standard in a single event.
