Mercury traveled to the Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center in Buffalo, NY this past weekend to take on the top swimmers in Niagara LSC and as the saying goes "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." Mercury's Men’s team consisting of Sam Mathews, Joe Parkhurst, Jack Wirth, and Christian Vitale came in 2nd in the small club division and 4th overall out of 22 clubs throughout the Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo areas. These four finished top 10 in all...

At the Webster PowerPoint meet Mercury continued to impress with 23 new USA Swimming personal bests and a second place finish in the meet rankings for Joleigh Crye! The mental toughness and “smart” swimming I was able to watch at this meet really shows me that these athletes have bought into the program and are ready to race with the best of them! To see this type of success from them while working like they have been over the winter has the coaches very excited for our championship meet coming...

Mercury yet again was ready to compete on Jan. 8th and 9th at the Victor New Year’s Meet! We had a steady dose of personal bests and new swims for just about everyone in attendance. Again showing how the confidence of our athletes is growing! I couldn’t be prouder of the push towards completing the IMX/IMR. These types of achievements really move the club in the direction of success. MERC had 23 swimmers compete at the 2021 Webster Pentathlon. Swimmers competed in 5 events (one of each stroke and an IM). The times of all 5 events are added up and there were awards for the top 3 swimmers in each age group. Jessie Crye won the 3rd place trophy for 13-14 girls! Also, the 13-14 girls relay team of Mandy Miller, Addie Beutner, Jessie Crye and Morgane Wethey won the even while setting a new MERC club record! Way to go!

This past weekend at the House of Delegates fall meeting, the Niagara LSC Board selected Mercury Swimming's’ Joleigh Crye as the 2021 Senior Female Swimmer of the Year! To be selected for this award this year is quite an honor. Fighting through the pandemic has been a tremendous task for most athletes, but to continue to train, improve, and excel under these circumstances shows us all that the will of a determined athlete is not a force to be reckoned with! Within this past year alone, Joleigh has accumulated a...
