● Implementation of safety guidelines from CDC, New York State, Erie County and USA swimming. Prioritizing the safety of athletes and coaches while minimizing contact with any school district students, staff or personnel
● TWST President will be the point person for the plan development, oversight and escalations.
● TWST Head will administer the plan for both staff and swimmers.
● All athletes and families must complete the required forms before participating in the program
● Athletes will self-monitor and will not attend practice if they display any symptoms of COVID-19 including cough, shortness of breath, fever, sore throat, severe headache, sudden loss of taste or smell. If an athlete is at practice and appears ill, coaches are instructed to contact a parent for athlete pick-up.
● Athletes are expected to wear a mask at all times while at the facility. Face coverings are removed once the athlete is entering the water at the instruction of the coach. A mask is required any time the athlete is not swimming and is moving around on deck.
● Coaches and Lifeguards will wear face coverings while in the facility at all times.
● Athletes are staggered in the lane to maintain proper distance. Maximum number of swimmers per lane is seven. Athletes’ lane locations will be documented.
● Please wear your suit to practice. Locker rooms are available if necessary.
● Parents are allowed in the facility as spectators. Masks need to be worn at all times
● TWST is a guest in OPHS and WSWHS and are subject to the state and county imposed guidance for schools.
COVID Safety Plan for Practice and Meets
• If a swimmer tests positive for COVID-19 they must remain out of practice for 10 days after the positive test or their first presenting symptom. The day you are allowed back in school is the day you are allowed back to practice.
• Families are asked to contact the head coach if a swimmer has a positive test for COVID-19.
• If a swimmer is contact traced due to being exposed a someone with COVID and they aren’t vaccinated, they are required to quarantine.
• Swimmers should not attend swim practice if they stayed home from school due to an illness. • If anyone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days, you will not be allowed to practice. Please contact your coach if someone in your house has tested positive in the past 10 days.
• If a swimmer is a part of a school imposed/ECDOH quarantine, they will not be allowed to practice. You may come back to practice the same day that you are allowed to go back to school.
• If a swimmer with COVID-like symptoms and has decided to get a test they must remain out of practice until the results are received and negative.
• A TWST Coach/Covid officer will contact a parent if your swimmer is determined to be a close contact while at practice.
COVID Questionnaire for practice/swim meet admittance
Swimmers will need to answer 3 Self Check Health questions at home before attending a TWST practice/swim meet. Coaches can refuse entry to any swimmer who appears to be sick.
1. Have you tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days?
2. Have you been exposed to someone that has tested positive for COVID-19 or who has had COVID-like symptoms in the last 10 days?
3. Have you been required to quarantine by ECDOH?
**If you answer YES to any of the above questions, you may not practice/attend a swim meet.**
