From February 28th to March 3rd in Houston, Texas the 2021 Men’s PAC-12 Swimming and Diving Championship took place. The teams that compete within this conference are University of California- Berkeley, Stanford University, University of Southern California, Utah University, and University of Arizona. The PAC-12 Conference is one of the fastest in Division 1 college swimming. As many Olympians have competed for these teams when attending college. Furthermore, due to the coronavirus college swimming has also been greatly affected. As they have had to endure great restrictions leading to an irregular practice and competition schedule.

At this meet two Scarlet Alum competed which were Dare Rose (University of California-Berkeley) and Johannes Calloni (Stanford University).

Calloni is a senior at Stanford and competed in the 500 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, and 1650 Freestyle. Johannes saw a 9th place finish in the 500 Freestyle and Top 8 finishes in the 200 Backstroke and 1650.

Rose graduated from Scarlet last year (2020), making this college season his first. The rookie did not let the obstacles of this unprecedented season stop him from making a name for himself. Dare competed in the 500 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, and 200 Butterfly. On the last day of the meet he saw outstanding success in the 200 Butterfly by placing 3rd overall at a best time of 1:42.13 as a freshmen! His college team University of California-Berkeley claimed their fourth consecutive conference championship title at the conclusion of the meet.

We will see both swimmers compete at the 2021 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship from March 24th to March 27th. This meet is the ultimate achievement one can obtain at the college level and we wish these swimmers luck!
