Welcome to the home of the OCY Tiger Sharks Swim Team.

We are a coach directed, parent supported YMCA program.

OCY offers a variety of competitive programs that are designed to accommodate children of all age groups and skill levels. At each level, the goals and objectives are specific and directed toward meeting the needs of the swimmer. The long-term goal of total excellence is always in mind. As each child is different, he/she will progress at his/her own rate. The coaching staff recognizes this fact by making team assignments based on a swimmer's physical, mental, and emotional level of development. Our Philosophy is "BELIEVE"

To have confidence in the truth

To trust in yourself and your team

Only if one BELIEVES in something, canone act purposefully

2021 TIGER SHARK SWIM TEAM – SPRING TRAINING

Tiger Sharks Spring 2021 Training Session

The Ocean County YMCA’s Tiger Shark Swim Team competes in both YMCA and USA Swimming meets when available.

Our team goal is to develop the swimmer in all areas of competitive swimming and prepare the swimmers for a lifelong enjoyment of the sport. Our team emphasizes the development of Spirit, Mind, and Body, and offers opportunities for growth in all areas.

Each Program group has the goal of preparing the athletes for the next level of competition.

As the athlete progresses, commitment, swimming, training knowledge, mental toughness and technical expertise are increased and improved upon. Physical conditioning, mental strength and life lessons from competitive swimming are the desired products of the program.

Begins: Monday, April 19, 2021
*Ends: Sunday, June 6th, 2021

*Subject to change depending on the availability of meets beyond this date.
Meet opportunities currently TBA and will be announced as they become available.

GROUP PLACEMENT:
Individual placements are based on the best interest of the swimmer for long term development and are dependent upon training ability, stroke proficiency, maturity, coachability, physical development, level of commitment, and group availability. Trying out does not guarantee placement on the team.

ATTENDANCE:
Swimmers are expected to attend as many practices as possible, but we understand that swimmers may have other commitments. Repeated absences from practice will inhibit the development and advancement of the swimmer.
