Strength & Conditioning Coach

Peddie Aquatic Association seeks an innovative and engaging individual to fill the role of Strength and Conditioning Coach, part-time.  

Reporting to the Director of Competitive Swimming and Aquatics Director, this position is responsible for supporting the aquatics staff in developing and implementing a cross functional program for athletes from our Junior Program up to our Senior Performance group. This Strength and Conditioning coach must be professional, motivated, and able to maintain a positive and effective level of communication with the athletes and coaches. The position is part-time with an hourly rate for 7.5hrs/week currently.


  • Implement and monitor strength and conditioning programs for swimmers;
  • Assist in fitness testing, computation of results, and evaluation of individual athletes;
  • Teach proper movement and lifting technique;
  • Assist in the education and enforcement of weight room rules;
  • Effectively and properly motivate athletes to achieve maximum potential in all areas of performance;
  • Collaborate with the Director to assist with all tasks for which he or she is responsible, and manage general operation of the facility in the director’s absence;

A successful candidate will present the following qualities and experiences:

  • Previous experience in strength and conditioning, physical education, health and exercise science or a related field;
  • Adequate knowledge of athletics and athletic terminology;
  • Interpersonal relationship skills and abilities to manage athletes of various ages;
  • Display the highest ethical and professional behavior;
  • Excellent and timely communication skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively based on the task;
  • Keen problem solving and decision-making abilities;
  • Although not required to apply or begin employment, applicants must be able to complete the following training/checks, as outlined in USA Swimming’s coaching membership checklist

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education in the related fields of Kinesiology, Biology, Sports medicine;
  • Accredited Strength Coach with CSCS Certification or equivalent.



Junior Program Director

The Peddie School is seeking a dynamic, inspiring Junior Program Director to support our nationally-renowned swim teams. The Peddie Aquatic Association has a legacy of success, consistently placing among the top teams at Sectionals, Junior Nationals, the U.S. Open and US Nationals. In 2021 PAA was recognized by ASCA as a Top-100 Age Group Team. Peddie has produced a number of athletes that have represented the United States at various international competitions, including the Olympics. Peddie Aquatics is a multi-tiered program consisting of a swim school all the way to pre-competitive and competitive teams. 


  • Direct and coach the Junior Performance practice group, our top-level age-group athletes. The group is made up of competitive swimmers ages 11 to 14.
  • Assist with evaluating swimmers’ techniques, developing swim programs and overseeing daily training
  • Recruit new team members and prepare for swim meets.
  • Develop, promote and manage the competitive swim team in an efficient and fun manner consistent with the Peddie Aquatic Association standards.
  • Train and evaluate qualified coaches to effectively operate all levels of the Junior Program. 
  • Develop and implement seasonal and long-term plans for the progression of our age group program and develop innovative techniques that demonstrate success and improvement.
  • Maintain safety during practices, swim meets and other team functions. Acquire and maintain necessary certification as established by USA Swimming.
  • Create and implement an age-appropriate strength and dryland program to facilitate athletic development and smooth transition between groups.
  • Assist in overseeing the Peddie Swim school, with awareness to help bridge swimmers into the age group program. 
  • Develop and implement team and individual goals with swimmers and Head Age Group Coaches, and monitor progression ofathletes and team in reaching these goals.


  • Work with the Head Coach and the rest of the staff to ensure the club's mission, vision and values are achieved.
  • Demonstrate a cooperative, prompt and respectful communication style with swimmers, parents, community members and staff.
  • Maintain and update website information regarding practice schedules, meet entries, news, etc.
  • Create meet entry files and submit entries to meet coordinators. 
  • Maintain a professional standard of safety, appearance, and readiness.


  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related field preferred.
  • Must be CPR/AED certified (lifeguard certified preferred) and maintain current USA coaching certifications.
  • Competitive swimming experience, knowledge of competitive swimming, or previous coaching experience is required.
  • Experience in personnel supervision, recruitment, training, and development of staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, members, parents and the general public is essential. 
  • Excellent organizational and written/oral skills.
