Greg Wriede Director of Competitive Swimming

Head Coach of the Peddie Varsity Swim Team and the Peddie Aquatic Association since 2001, Greg Wriede ’95 has led the Peddie Falcons to 11 Eastern Interscholastic Conference titles, a 120-33 dual meet record and 13 Mid-Atlantic Prep League titles.

He has developed over 100 High School All Americans and coached 7 National Prep School Record swims. In 2017, Wriede guided the Peddie School boys’ team to a 5th place finish in Swimming World Mythical Rankings. In 2013 and 2010, his boys placed 5th nationally, while the girls placed 10th for independent schools in 2010.

Wriede was named as a USA National Junior Team Coach for 2009-2010, 2010-2011, and 2014-2015 seasons. In 2011, Wriede served as the Head Coach of USA Swimming’s Western Zone Select Camp and in 2009 served as an assistant coach for USA Swimming’s National Select Camp.

In the summer of 2010, Wriede headed the Jamaican National Youth Team to the first–ever Youth Olympic Games held in Singapore. Wriede served as an assistant coach for the USA National Youth Team at the Mare Nostrum Series in June of 2010.

Wriede has built the Peddie Aquatic Association into a USA Silver Medal Club, recognized as one of the top 100 clubs in the country since 2008. The team won the Speedo Championships Series in 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2011. In 2014 he coached Patrick Park to a berth on the USA National Junior Team and coached Connor Signorin to a berth on the USA National Youth Team in 2009 and 2010.

Wriede’s Peddie swimmers, as both students and alumni, have represented the countries of Korea, Hong Kong, Barbados, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Israel and Jamaica in international competitions including the Olympic Games, World Championships, Pan Pacific Games, Pan American Games and the Commonwealth Games. Peddie alum Roy–Allan Burch represented Bermuda at the Olympic Games in 2008 in Beijing and again in 2012 in London.

Wriede has coached USA All–Americans and produced qualifiers for Olympic Trials, World Championship Trials, U.S. Open and Junior Nationals. In addition, his swimmers have placed in the Top 16 National Age Group rankings over 100 times while setting 60 New Jersey State records.

After his distinguished two–year high school career at Peddie, Wriede attended Harvard University and received the Eugene B. Wyman trophy four consecutive times as the top scorer in dual meets. A multiple NCAA All–American and team captain, Wriede guided the Crimson to four consecutive Eastern Intercollegiate Swimming League titles and a 44–4 dual meet mark over the same period. In 1999, Wriede was named to the USA National Team and competed at the FISU World University Games.

Wriede lives on campus at Peddie with his wife, Michelle and their three children Ethan, Brady & Kylie (currently on the swim team).

Emmett Walling Senior Program Director

Coach Emmett Walling, a former Head Coach of the Coronado Swim Association (CSA), joined Peddie Aquatics as the Junior Program Director in the fall of 2018. Following a competitive swimming career spanning eighteen years, Coach Emmett has decided to make a lifelong commitment to the sport of swimming and to share his passion with today's athletes. Emmett steps on deck with goals to inspire great technique and the excitement of racing every day. 

A native of Manasquan, N.J., Walling attended Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Fla., before becoming a student-athlete at USC in 2009-10 and team Captain for the 2010-11 season. Walling was part of Indian River's 34th and 35th straight National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) crowns in 2008 and 2009. He broke NJCAA records in 2009 in the 50 free (19.43) and the 100 breast (53.83), earning Swimmer of the Meet distinction. During Coach Emmett’s swimming career he established himself, as a 7 time All-American, well ranked among USC's top ten in the 50/100y free and 100y breast, NJ High School State Champion - 200 IM and 100 breast, and recently inducted into the Mansquan High School Hall of Fame.

Emmett graduated from USC in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology - Human Performance. In addition to his prior coaching with CSA, Coach Emmett was most recently an Assistant Coach for the UC San Diego Tritons under Head Coach and the 2016 Rio Olympic Games Women’s Head Coach, David Marsh. Growing up in New Jersey, Emmett competed for Central Jersey Aquatic Club (CJAC), spent 10 summers as a beach lifeguard and is an avid surfer and huge advocate for the ocean. 

Kirsten Hinds Junior Program Director

Kirsten joined the Peddie coaching staff in the fall of 2019, after 19 years of coaching at The Atlantic Club where she has been involved with all levels of athletes but has specifically focused on the age group team. Prior to The Atlantic Club, Kirsten served as an assistant coach for Rutgers University, The United States Naval Academy, the University of Connecticut and Springfield College. She holds a Masters in Sport Psychology and brings close to 30 years of coaching experience to Peddie. Kirsten will oversee all aspects of our Junior Program and serve as the Head Coach for the Junior Performance and Senior Development Group. 

Tina Winthrop Senior Lead Coach

Coach Tina grew up in Robbinsville, NJ and began swimming at Miry Run Country Club in Robbinsville at the age of 9. She swam on the summer team for Miry Run until the club closed and then she joined the Brooktree swim team. At the age of 10, Tina began swimming year round with Hamilton Aquatics. She swam on the age group team and senior team until she left for college. She also swam for four years at Lawrence High School and continued swimming for another four years at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ.

During her time at FDU, Tina was team captain for three years and repeatedly placed in the top 16 at the Middle Atlantic Conference championship meet. Her best events were the 400 IM and the 500, 1000, and 1650 Freestyle. Tina has coached the Brooktree Swim Team and has been teaching swim lessons for the past 5 years to children of all ages. Coach Tina graduated from FDU with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. She currently works as a substitute teacher in various districts in Mercer County and continues to live in Robbinsville with her parents. Coach Tina joined Peddie Aquatics as an 8/u assistant coach in November 2009 and is excited to be able to spread her knowledge of swimming to children who love the sport as much as she does.

Steven Vitabile Junior and Junior Development Lead Coach

Steven joined the Peddie Aquatics coaching staff in the fall of 2017 and works with our Junior and Junior Development level swimmers. He got his start in swimming with Peddie as a 9-year old and swam competitively through high school with the team, favoring the long distance freestyle and butterfly events. He was a member of the Hightstown High School swim team where he was the senior team captain. Steven is a recent graduate from Rutgers University receiving his B.S in Exercise Science-Applied Kinesiology. Combining his passion of swimming and running to the sport of triathlon, he competed with the club triathlon team at Rutgers qualifying for Club National Championships all four years. Steven has competed in over 60 triathlons ranging from sprint to half Ironman distances, racing both locally and at National Championship events. His dedication to swimming continues on as an active member of our Masters Swim program.

Rob Fisch Falcon Lead Coach

Rob started swimming as a 14-year old summer swimmer in his hometown of East Windsor, NJ for the Twin Rivers Torpedo’s. He had much success as a summer swimmer, and then went on to year-round swimming with the Peddie Aquatics team. Rob swam through high school at Hightstown, which Rob currently holds two relay records and swam in college. During Rob’s sophomore year at William Paterson University he achieved the All American Certificate in the 100 and 200 Butterfly. He started coaching the Twin Rivers Summer Swim Team at the age of 18, and continued all through college. Rob graduated from William Paterson University with a B.S. in Mathematics. His dedication to swimming continues on as an active member of our Masters Swim program and still competes in open water races in the summer. Rob lives in Freehold with his wife, Emilie and children Max and Elianah.

Lindsay Clemens Varsity Assistant Coach

Lindsay Clemens was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. A member of the City of Plano Swimmers for 10 years and under the direction of Steve Mateer, Lindsay earned an athletic scholarship to Florida State University. While at FSU, Lindsay was an NCAA qualifier, an ACC Champion, Rookie of the Year, and voted Team Captain her senior year. 

After graduating, Lindsay moved to Fort Lauderdale where she began her coaching career with Fort Lauderdale Aquatics. While at FLA, Lindsay had much success and was named Head Developmental Coach under Jesse Vassello. Lindsay's deep passion for the ocean and love for open water swimming lead her to become an Ocean Rescue Lifeguard for the city of Delray Beach. While with Delray Beach Ocean Rescue, Lindsay was named to the National Surf Lifesaving team that traveled to Egypt, Japan, and Australia. 
After FLA, Lindsay coached at Pine Crest as the Green 2 coach as well as the Head 13 & Over Coach for the Pine Crest Swim Camp. Lindsay was also fortunate enough to work as the assistant director of the Institute for Civic Involvement at Pine Crest. In the spring of 2014, Lindsay accepted the position of Head Age Group Coach for Texas Ford Aquatics in Frisco, Texas. A privately owned and operated swim team and facility, Lindsay saw much success not only with the business but, with her swimmers. While with TFA, Lindsay produced multiple Texas state champions, Sectional, Futures, Junior National swimmers, USAS Top 10 qualifiers, and a National Age Group record holder in two events. The age group program continued to see upward growth and success during her time.

Eric Hubbard Senior Performance Assistant Coach

Eric got his start to swimming at Peddie Aquatics when he was eight years old. He continued to swim with Peddie for another 10 years while also swimming for both the Brooktree Swim Team and the Hightstown High school swim team, where he currently holds three relay records and a 100 breastroke record. He swam competitively with Peddie Aquatics throughout 2013, but is still eager to swim laps whenever he can. Eric joined the staff of Peddie Aquatics while he was still on the team as a lesson instructor and lifeguard, and then in the fall of 2014 he joined the coaching staff. Eric is currently attending Mercer County Community College where he plans to receive his associates degree in electronics engineering technology

Marissa Daniels Senior Assistant Coach

Marissa grew in up East Windsor where she began her swimming career with Peddie at just 5 years old. She excelled in the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle and 200 IM where she still has top 10 records at Peddie Aquatics. She continued swimming competitively with Peddie for 13 years where she developed a lifetime love of the sport. Marissa also swam at Hightstown High School and became a team captain her senior year.  Marissa then attended Rutgers University where she graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science. At the age of 13, Marissa became an assistant swim instructor with the lesson program. In the fall of 2009, she started working with the 8 and unders as an assistant coach. She continues coaching today as an assistant coach for the Senior group.

Cathy Signorin Team Manager

Cathy grew up in Cranbury, NJ, where she began swimming for the Cranbury Catfish at age 7, and continued for 11 years. From the ages of 12-18, she also swam for Princeton Aquatics, a year-round club team that practiced at the old Peddie pool that was up on the main campus near where the science center stands today. After earning a degree in Marine Biology, she worked 17 years for ExxonMobil Corporation in Aquatic Toxicology and later in Quality Assurance. In the spring of 2003, Cathy left the corporate world to join the Peddie Aquatics staff as the Administrator for all the aquatics programs. Since then, she has been deeply committed to the sport and works diligently to help make sure that all PAA families have everything they need to make their swimming experience as positive and productive as possible. Her sons, Connor & Ryan, swam for the club team as well as the Peddie School varsity team, and then went on to swim D1 in college. Cathy lives locally with her husband, John.
