Meredith Locasto, Director of Aquatics

Meredith Locasto is a lifelong New Jersey native and an avid athlete. In her youth, she swam for the Randolph YMCA until her love for “dryland” sports took hold. She attended The College of New Jersey to earn her undergraduate degree in Education and Exercise Science. While at TCNJ she played for their women’s lacrosse team and led the Lions to four Final Four appearances, winning two NCAA Division III National Championships (2005 and 2006) and was named to both the All-American and Academic All-American teams in both her junior and senior years. Since her time at TCNJ, she has earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas.

Meredith joined the Peddie Aquatic Center in July 2020 after 11 years at the Morristown-Beard School, where she was a teacher, three-season coach, and the aquatics director for the school and day camp. Meredith has a background in small group lessons, having run her own backyard swimming program, and coaching at the high school level, as she was the head girls and boys swim coach for MBS. Emmett Walling, Director of Competitive Swimming

Coach Emmett Walling was named Director of Competitive Swimming and Head Coach of Peddie in 2021. A former Head Coach of the Coronado Swim Association (CSA), Walling joined Peddie Aquatics as the Junior Program Director in the fall of 2018 and quickly moved to the role of Senior Program Director in 2019. Following a competitive swimming career spanning eighteen years, Coach Emmett has decided to make a lifelong commitment to the sport of swimming and to share his passion with today's athletes. Emmett steps on deck with goals to inspire great technique and the excitement of racing every day. 

A native of Manasquan, N.J., Walling attended Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Fla., before becoming a student-athlete at USC in 2009-10 and team Captain for the 2010-11 season. Walling was part of Indian River's 34th and 35th straight National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) crowns in 2008 and 2009. He broke NJCAA records in 2009 in the 50 free (19.43) and the 100 breast (53.83), earning Swimmer of the Meet distinction. During Coach Emmett’s swimming career he established himself, as a 7 time All-American, well ranked among USC's top ten in the 50/100y free and 100y breast, NJ High School State Champion - 200 IM and 100 breast, and recently inducted into the Mansquan High School Hall of Fame.

Emmett graduated from USC in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology - Human Performance. In addition to his prior coaching with CSA, Coach Emmett was most recently an Assistant Coach for the UC San Diego Tritons under Head Coach and the 2016 Rio Olympic Games Women’s Head Coach, David Marsh. Growing up in New Jersey, Emmett competed for Central Jersey Aquatic Club (CJAC), spent 10 summers as a beach lifeguard and is an avid surfer and huge advocate for the ocean. 

Corina Simms, Lesson Coordinator

Corina grew up in Ocean County, New Jersey where she swam for Ocean County YMCA Swim Team. Her love of the water began in her back yard swimming pool where she learned the water safety skills that continued throughout her life.  In high school, Corina became a certified lifeguard and she began teaching swimming lessons. In 1989, Corina graduated from Loyola University, and in 2007, she received her Personal Training Certification.  She has taught many types of fitness classes in and out of the pool but prefers aquatic fitness.   As a personal trainer, her focus has been on the benefits & rewards of aquatic physical training.  Teaching Water Safety is a high priority that Corina strives to share with people of all ages, especially children.

Corina joined the staff of Peddie Aquatics in the fall of 2012 as both a water exercise & swim lesson instructor. In the spring of 2015, Corina took her love for the water to the next level and became the "Lesson Coordinator" for the Peddie Swim School. She feels incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to share her passion with all  Peddie Swim School students and looks forward to a long future at the Peddie Pool.
