Raritan Valley YMCA Riptide

For the 2022–2023 season, we will mainly be using two facilities, The YMCA at the Piscataway Community Center and Raritan Bay Area YMCA. Starting in November, the Senior Group may begin to use the North Brunswick Township HS pool, but this will depend on future scheduling of meets.

Riptide will have a separate swim entrance at this facility. The entrance is located around the side closest to the Outdoor Spray Park.

The YMCA at the Piscataway Community Center (one of our practice facilities) requires all persons entering the facility to complete a waiver. Click here to complete the Non-Member Application and Facility Wavier for RVY Swim Team Swimmers and Families. Helpful hint: some find this easier to complete from a desktop computer. This waiver does not need to be completed if you swam at the Piscataway Y last year for Riptide or if you are currently a member of the facility. If you are having difficulty completing, there will be a computer set up at the entrance to the pool to help you in completing this form the first few nights of practice.

Swimmers will enter through the front of the building and walk straight back past the bathrooms to the pool deck.

Facility Policies & Safety Procedures

The following Safety Procedures are to be adhered to this swim season:

EXCLUSION FROM PRACTICE

You may not attend practice, meets, or any in-person team activities if you are experiencing symptoms of fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, or other potential COVID symptoms. Do not attend practice if you have used medication to reduce a fever.
Do not attend Riptide practice if your school or other entity has required you to quarantine as the result of close contact with COVID.
If your swimmer has tested positive for COVID, please report this to Coach Brian and do not attend practice. Close contacts as a result of team activities will be informed, and quarantine requirements enforced as per local health department requirements. (Because the COVID situation in New Jersey is constantly evolving, specific quarantine requirements will be determined at the time of the reported incident.)

MASKS
Our current mask policies apply regardless of vaccination status.

Swimmers: Swimmers are required to wear masks while entering and exiting the facility before and after practice, and while in any area of the facility other than the pool area, including locker rooms and bathrooms. (Obviously, masks may NOT be worn in the water.)
Coaches: Coaches will wear masks, unless engaged in activities which require mask removal (such as acting as a lifeguard or entering the water).
Spectators/volunteers: All spectators and volunteers will wear masks.

SPECTATORS & VOLUNTEERS

During practice, parents are permitted to watch from the designated spectator seating area (note that at Raritan Bay, this is in the balcony). Parents are not to be on the pool deck during practice. Parents are encouraged to remain socially distant from anyone not in their immediate family and are discouraged from being in any other part of the facility.
During meets, parents are only allowed to attend when participating in a volunteer role. Spectators are NOT allowed during meets. (Meets will be live-streamed when possible.)

LOCKER ROOMS

Locker rooms are available for swimmers to change AFTER practice. Swimmers will NOT use the locker rooms to change BEFORE practice. You should wear your swimsuit to practice but are permitted to change out of it after practice. When using the locker rooms, swimmers will wear a mask and should remain socially distant from other swimmers who are not in their immediate family.
