Brian Rose Head Coach - JR1, SR1

Brian swam for Riptide from 1995 to 2002, and he is proud to say he never missed a single dual meet in that time! After graduating Riptide as a team captain, he went on to swim 4 years at Swarthmore College, specializing in the 200 Breaststroke and 400 IM. Brian was also head coach of the Nob Valley summer swim team from 2002 to 2007, head coach of Wardlaw Hartridge Middle School from 2010 to 2013, and head coach of Brookside Swim Club in 2011. He has coached the Berkeley masters team under Coach Chuck Warner, and was a member of the New Jersey Swimming and Diving Conference board of directors from 2008 to 2011.

Brian has been coaching for Riptide since 2006, and Head Coach since 2013. In recent years he has served as the primary coach for the Boys Blue Team and/or Girls Purple Team at dual meets, and primary practice group coach for the Senior 1 group and the Junior groups. Brian prides himself on being an expert in swim technique, a devoted and caring coach, and a pretty decent guitar player. He still occasionally competes as an active swimmer. As many parents and swimmers alike can attest, he is a walking Top Times Report and will probably remember your best 100 Fly time from 4 years ago.

Scott Thompson Asst. Head Coach - Tidal Wave, JR1

Scott began his coaching career in 1986 as the head coach of the Centeral Jersey YWCA Swim Team in New Brunswick.  When the YMCA closed its doors in 1995, he moved the team to the Raritan Valley YMCA and served as the head coach of the boys' and girls' teams there until 1998.  Scott is married to his wife Leslie, and their two children, Courtney & Andrew, were long time members of Riptide and now swim for The College of New Jersey.  Scott works for Avaya as a senior financial manager and enjoys spending time with his family and cheering for mediocre local sports teams like the Mets, Jets, Devils and Rutgers University.

Juliana Rose Asst. Head Coach - SR2

Julie swam on Riptide for 10 years until she graduated high school in 2006. While a Riptider, she served as captain of the Girls' team in her junior & senior year, captain of the Nationals team in her senior year, and is a current team record holder in the 13/14 backstroke events. Julie was assistant coach for the Nob Valley swim team from 2005 to 2007, and head coach in 2008 and 2009.

Julie pursued her BA in Communications/Media Studies at Northeastern University and works full-time in advertising at BBDO New York. Before graduating she spent her final college semester studying abroad in Australia where she became a champion crocodile wrestler.... Just kidding, but she did do some very cool things while hanging with the Aussies!

Trevor Endler Asst. Head Coach - JR2
Justin Atkinson Asst. Head Coach - SR2
Rebecca Kenyon Assistant Coach - Tiny Tide

Rebecca began her swimming career at the age of seven on a local summer swim team. At the age of 8 she joined the now defunct Raritan Valley Sting Rays. Rebecca swam competitively until graduating high school in 2009. After a brief hiatus, she returned to the world of swimming as head coach for the Wynnewood Swim Team from 2015 to 2018.

Rebecca worked as a swim instructor for The Club at Ricochet for 2 years during the same time.   After time away from the pool, she is excited to dive back into the swimming world with Riptide. Rebecca has a deep seeded love for children and when not coaching, can be found working full time as a nanny.

Mike Heidelberg Assistant Coach - JR2

Michael Heidelberg is a former Head Coach of Riptide, leading the team for seven years. He has been a member of Riptide in some way since he was 10 years old, when he joined the team (which was known at that time as Central Jersey) after swimming for the now defunct Raritan Bay Area YMCA Swim Team. Mike was a captain of the team and was Mr. Nationals in 1995. He became an assistant coach after college, working with the Tiny Tide group, and since then has coached every practice group, and currently works with Junior 2.

Like many others in the Riptide family, Michael met his wife through swimming, marrying Coach Missy, and has two wonderful children, Lilly and Cooper. Mike is a Principal for Perth Amboy Public Schools. In his spare time, Mike likes to prefect torturous swimming drills, like "Tarzan" and "Waffle".

Missy Heidelberg Assistant Coach - JR1

Missy has been part of the Riptide family for 17 years starting as a coach and then as a parent of two enthusiastic swimmers, Lilly and Cooper. Last year she was a Level I Official and this year is coming back on deck as a coach for the Junior 1 group. Missy is married to Coach Mike, works for Genentech, is going back to school at Columbia University and is slightly addicted to competing in long distance triathlons. She's very excited to start coaching again this year!

Timothy Mancuso Assistant Coach - SR2
Laurie Sieminski Assistant Coach

Laurie has been coaching at Riptide for twelve years. During that time, she has been responsible for developing and coaching our very successful Tiny Tide program, Head Coach for three of those years, a Nationals Coach for ten years, and was the perennial head coach of Riptide's Coed Team. Laurie also previously coached and managed the New Horizons Swim Program at Rutgers University.

She is a Rutgers graduate and also holds a master's degree in counseling and psychology from Rutgers. Laurie spends her free time competing in triathlons, watching Rutgers and Giants football and spending time with her family.
