Practice Group Descriptions and Requirements

 

Intro:    (Introduction to Competitive Swimming)

(2 practices weekly, 3 are preferred)

This is the entry-level group for Streamline Aquatics Club (STAC). It is designed for swimmers ages 5 to 10 who have limited or no experience in the sport of swimming. They should have an understanding of freestyle and backstroke. The focus of this group is to learn competitive swimming skills necessary for a solid foundation and improve upon skills already obtained. Intro swimmers should attend a minimum of 2 practices weekly, 3 are preferred. Spring/Summer participation is strongly encouraged.  Swimmers will compete in 2 in-house meets and possibly a few more throughout the season. Meets are highly recommended, not mandatory. Families are asked to volunteer at meets their swimmers participate in. Timing assignments may be assigned if volunteer openings are not filled.


Novice: 

 (3 practices weekly)

This group is designed for swimmers ages 6 to 12 who have limited experience swimming but have already learned freestyle and backstroke.  They should have an understanding of breaststroke and butterfly. The focus is to learn the competitive swim skills necessary for a solid foundation and improve techniques already obtained. Novice swimmers should attend a minimum of 3 practices weekly. Spring/Summer participation is strongly encouraged.


Junior Prep 1 & 2  (JP1/ JP2) :

 (age 8-10 should attend practice 3-4 times weekly, 11-14, 4 times weekly)

These groups are designed for swimmers ages 8 to 14 with some competitive experience in swimming. The focus will be on refining competitive skills already learned and continue to build a strong foundation of the sport. Additionally, athletes in this group will begin to explore the conditioning elements of the sport.  Junior Prep swimmers age 8-10 should attend practice 3-4 times weekly, and age 11-14 should attend 4 times weekly.  Spring/Summer participation is strongly encouraged.

These swimmers are leveled by ability, a swimmer's skill development, and the ability to handle more challenging practices.


Junior 1 & 2 (JR1/JR2):

(ages 9-10 should attend practice 4 to 5 times weekly, 11 to 14, 5 times weekly)

These groups are designed for athletes ages 9 to 14 who have a strong competitive swim foundation.  Swimmers will be introduced to aerobic base training.  The focus will be to master competitive swim skills that will prepare them for senior-level training.  Athletes will be taught the importance of being fully committed to the sport to achieve their goals.  Juniors will have the proper mindset and desire required to participate in a highly competitive atmosphere.  Juniors ages 9-11 should attend practice 4 to 5 times weekly,  ages 12 to 14 should attend practice 5 times a week regularly to achieve desired results. Spring/Summer participation is strongly encouraged. 

The difference between these groups is a swimmer's skill development and the ability to handle more challenging practices.


Senior 1 & 2 (SR1/SR2)

 ( 5 times weekly)

These groups are for high school swimmers who have a strong competitive swim background. The focus will be on learning how to balance family life, academics, and outside activities while swimming to the athlete’s highest desired level. Senior swimmers should attend practice 5 times weekly. Year-round training is strongly recommended.
The difference between these groups is a swimmer's skill development, the ability to handle more intense practices, and practice commitment.


JR Select (JR Sel):

 (5 times weekly)


This group is designed for athletes ages 10 to 14 who have made swimming their primary sport and are fully committed to STAC's year-round training.  

Swimmers 11 & Up are required to attend 5 practices weekly.

Swimmers 10 & Under are required to attend 4 practices weekly.


SR Select (SR Sel): 

 (5-6 times weekly)

This group is designed for athletes in high school who have made swim their primary sport and are fully committed to STAC's year-round training.  Swimmers must balance family life, academics, and outside activities while swimming to the athlete’s highest desired level. SR Select swimmers are required to attend practice 5-6 times weekly.
