Streamline Aquatics Club - Short Course Volunteer Policy

Swim teams cannot exist without volunteers - STAC is no exception!

If your swimmer(s) is/are entered in a meet (prelims and/or finals), you should expect to volunteer or be assigned to work. Only if a swimmer has appropriately signed out by following the instructions before the job sign-up deadline for a meet will a swimmer be considered signed out and the family relieved from meet responsibilities. If you are signed up or assigned to work and find you cannot work last minute, you are responsible for finding a replacement. It is not the responsibility of the Volunteer Coordinator or any STAC coach or employee to find a replacement, regardless of any circumstance that arises.
We require all families to complete 4 volunteer points, + 1 for each additional swimmer during the short course season. The points must be earned by the end of short course, and there will be no point carry over from season to season. Families with an Intro swimmer, who is their only swimmer on the team, are not required to complete points; however, it is expected that Intro families will volunteer at meets their swimmer participates in.
All families are expected to volunteer at STAC hosted meets. If you have a swimmer participating in a STAC run meet, you must volunteer. This is above and beyond volunteer points- points are not earned during STAC run meets and will not count toward the 4 point obligation.
Everyone will have ample opportunity to earn their points. Only family members age 18 or older can sign up for jobs to fulfill the point requirement. Unworked points will be accessed at $100 per point and charged to accounts at the end of the short course season.
Job Sign-ups will open under the Events tab for each meet and event that requires volunteers.
Point donation is permitted. If a fellow STAC family is willing to help you achieve your point commitment, it will be accepted. The person working on your family's behalf must inform the Head Timer or Event Coordinator which family they are working for, or you will not get credit for the points earned.

Timing Policy:
We will open our Job Sign-up for timers under a meet event for people to volunteer. Our Coordinator will not confirm final timing assignments until we get our assignment from the hosting team only days before the meet.
On the day of the meet, all timers must check in with STAC's Head Timer, and all (including the Head Timer) must attend the timers meeting before the session begins regardless of whether you have timed in the past or which half you are timing. This is your opportunity to coordinate the "handoff" with the other timer assigned to your lane. If you are timing for another family, please let the Head Timer know who you are timing for. Head Timers must send a report of who worked during their session by Monday after the meet. No points will be given to timers without this report submitted by the Head Timer to [email protected].
If all of our timing positions are not filled with volunteers, we will assign the job to families with an athlete swimming in the session. You will have to find a replacement if you cannot time yourself. If you cannot find a replacement, you are obligated to complete the timing assignment yourself.
If you are assigned to time or any other volunteer job, but do not show up, you will be assessed $100 for the unearned point after the meet.
If you find you cannot work after signing up for a job or being assigned, you must find a replacement. You can find a directory of our families by clicking the Members button at the very top of our website. Under Location, please select SC-2021-22 or select a roster group for current STAC's Short Course team members.

People Unable to Time:
If you have a medical reason you cannot time, we ask that you declare this before the season begins. We will help you find other volunteer jobs to help the team and earn points to fulfill the family requirement.
