The Westfield YMCA Devilfish swim team is holding tryouts for NEW SWIMMERS to participate in the Fall/Winter 2022/2023 season.
We have open spots for swimmers between the ages of 6 and 18. Age for YMCA meet season is determined by the swimmer's age on December 1st 2022.
2022/2023 FALL/WINTER TRYOUT DATES:7/5-7/7/22
10/unders will be 6:15-7:00PM 7/5+7/6.
11-12 will be 7:15-8:00PM 7/5+7/6.
13/overs are 6:15-7:00PM and 7:15-8:00PM 7/7.
-Age for short course YMCA meets is determined by the swimmer’s age as of December 1, 2022. Swimmers who “age up” on or before 12/1/2022 must try out for the next age group. For example, children who swim as an 8 year old during the summer will have to try out as a 9 year old if their birthday is on or before December 1st 2022. Please indicate your swimmer's age as of 12/1/2022 in the designated spot.
Each age group will do a warmup and some drill work. In addition, there will be timed swims as follows:
-8 and unders will swim 25 yards of freestyle and 25 yards of backstroke. They will start in the water.
-9 and 10’s will swim 50 yards of freestyle and 50 yards of two other strokes they choose.
-11 and 12’s will swim 100 yards of freestyle and 50 yards of two other strokes they choose.
-13 and overs will swim 100 yards of freestyle and 50 yards of two other strokes they choose.
