What is Swim-A-Thon?

Swim-A-Thon

What is a Swim-A-Thon? Swim-A-Thon is a fundraising platform for our club to raise money for necessary items each year. This year, we are working to reach our goal of replacing the Starting Blocks in our Facility, to modern, state-of-the-art ones.

How does a Swim-A-Thon work? Athletes raise funds, and then take part in a swimming session on a designated date/time (June 4th this year), and have 2 hours to complete as many laps as they are able in their allotted time frame.

  • Developmental Division: 9:00AM-11:00AM

  • Age Group Division: 11:00AM-1:00PM

  • Senior Division: 1:00PM-3:00PM

What if my Swimmer cannot attend the date of the Swim-A-Thon? Swimmers will have the opportunity to make up their swim at a practice time, or a separate makeup date. More information will be available closer to the event.

How is a Swim-A-Thon run on the day? On the day of the event, Athletes will come in with their Parents, and swim during their 2 hour block to complete as many laps as they are able. Parents will keep track of their Swimmer’s laps via a Lap Tracker Sheet. After Swimmers conclude their swim, we will have Food for the Athletes afterwards. During the event we will have lots of fun music going!

How do I participate? Families can activate their swimmer’s online profile via the emails that have been generated in the Team Unify system. This is the easiest, most efficient way to participate, and have funds allocated to your Athlete’s incentives list. Contact Coach John if you have any questions on how to set yours up, we are here to help!

Do all Donations have to be done Online or Electronically? No they do not! We do accept checks for donations; these can be turned in to Coach John, to be manually assigned to your Swimmer’s profile to give them credit for the contributions. When taking donations via Check, please use the following steps:

  • Checks made payable to Charger Aquatics

  • Please collect the following information in order to have donors receive their tax-deductible letter:

    • Name, Address, Phone Number, Email

What Incentives are Offered to Encourage our Athletes to Participate? CAQ is offering several different options for Incentives.

  • From USA Swimming:

    • Depending on $ amount raised, there is a range of prizes that USA Swimming will send to Athletes

    • If an Athlete completes 100 Laps or 200 Laps, USA Swimming will send them a Bag Tag! (Developmental/AG Goal of 100, SR Goal of 200)

  • From CAQ for Individuals:

    • Top 3 Fundraisers across the Team receive a Blue Speedo Teamster 2.0 Backpack

    • Within Each Practice Group:

      • Top Fundraiser receives Speedo Mesh Bag

      • 2nd Place Fundraiser receives Speedo Goggles

  • From CAQ for Practice Groups:

    • The Practice Group that raises the most Funds per Athlete (average taken across practice group numbers), will receive a Pizza Party from CAQ

Why Should I Participate? Charger Aquatics is reliant upon our CAQ Community to help us to make some projects a reality. Without Families help in Fundraising, we would not be able to offer some of the items that make our Programming and Facility so successful. Please do your part to help our Club continue to offer the best Competitive Swimming opportunities in New Mexico!
