Jarrod Trainor

Head Coach

Jarrod is the head coach at Lobo Aquatics. He has coached for over 7 years. He started off as an assistant coach for Del Norte Sports and Wellness' Sundance team. Since then he's moved to a couple clubs including Riverpoint and Midtown before finally returning to Del Norte as the head coach. He then moved to Lobo Aquatics where he is now head coach. Jarrod is focused heavily on improving form, and helping our swimmers become stronger and faster. 

Jarrod swam in Albuquerque since he was 6 years old. He went to college in Alamosa, Colorado where he competed in collegic cross-country, track, and cycling. He also swam for the masters program at Adams State before moving back to New Mexico, and is now at UNM as 

Jarrod wants Lobo Aquatics to be an exciting environment where swimmers of all ages and backgrounds can come together and compete at the highest level possible.

Michael Licon

Assistant Coach


Michael started his coaching career as an assistant coach at El Paso Tennis Club in 2017 before serving as an assistant, then associate head coach at El Paso Country Club in 2019 and 2021, where he won two City Championships.

Michael is the assistant coach for the New Mexico swimming & diving team, starting his first season in 2022. He spent the 2021-22 season with Auburn University in the capacity of volunteer assistant, where he worked with both the men’s and women’s swimming teams. With Auburn, he gained experience working with Honorable Mention NCAA All-Americans, SEC finalists and a World Champion gold medalist. In addition to working at Auburn, he also served as an assistant coach at Opelika Swim Team under former Olympic Gold Medalist Tyler McGill.

Michael has been involved with the sport of swimming since 2002, where he swam for club teams like the West Texas Typhoons and the City of Plano Swimmers. He also swam for Plano Senior High School and El Paso High School where he was a 3-time regional champion and an All-State honorable mention.

Michael is looking forward to getting to know all the swimmers, as well as having an enjoyable and successful year with Lobo Aquatics.

Maddie Deucher

Assistant Coach

Maddie is a senior on the Women’s Swimming & Diving team at UNM and has been swimming for 10 years. Has competed at the state, sectional, junior national and national level in the 100 and 200 backstroke and competed in the SEC her freshman year. Maddie is extremely excited to work with Lobo aquatics by providing assistance with technique and encouraging her swimmers to be the best they can in and out of the pool.
