The mission of Santa Fe Aquatics is to promote a life-long love of swimming in swimmers of all ages and abilities by providing a safe, healthy and positive environment for our athletes. This will be achieved through a comprehensive training program that addresses the physical, mental, nutritional, and technical dimensions of the sport to support team and individual goals.

WE DID IT! We have received Safe Sport Recognized club status through @usaswimming. Thank you to our athletes, parents, and coaches who helped us with this amazing accomplishment! We are the only swim team in New Mexico that has been awarded this distinction. We are COMMITTED to providing a healthy, and positive environment free from abuse for everyone on our team.

Meet the SFA Board!

Santa Fe Aquatics is governed by a Board of Directors made up of volunteer swim parents, adult swim members, or interested community members. All team members have the opportunity to nominate themselves for, and vote on, board positions at our annual meeting which is usually held in September. In the event of un-timely vacancies, the President will appoint someone with the guidance and approval of the Board.

You can read about board member terms and position descriptions in our bylaws.

SFA has regular board meetings that are open to all of our members.  The Board welcomes your input and participation in planning team events, swim meets, and fundraisers. Please contact a board member for more information or with any questions or comments at any time.

We are always on the lookout for parents that are interested in training to become Officials.

The 2020-2021 SFA Board Members

President:Brian Snyder

My daughters, Sophia and Cece, started swimming competitively for SFAC in 2011, left the club to swim for another local club in 2014 and returned to SFAC in 2018. Sophia recently graduated from SFHS and transitioned to Western Colorado University in Gunnison, CO where in addition to studying Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology she’s swimming on their Division II Women’s Swim Team. Cece is a Junior at SFHS, and will begin exploring colleges this year with an interest in studying Marine Biology, and enjoys swimming on the SFHS swim team and in the Black group for SFAC. I joined the SFAC Board as a member in 2019 and enjoy participating in the growth and success of the club. I enjoy outdoor recreation, working in the yard and supporting my teenage daughters in their activities. By schooling and licensure, I’m a Professional Engineer and have worked in various engineering and management positions at the City of Santa Fe over the past 16.5 years.

President Emeritus:Georgina Gibson

Our family moved to Santa Fe from Alaska in 2016 and our son Elias transferred from his old swim team to SFAC at that time. Elias is now 15 and swims in the Black group. I joined the Board as Secretary in 2017 and then took over as President Fall 2018. I am also a stroke + turn official and an administrative official with USA Swimming, and I enjoy helping our team host swim meets. I enjoy outdoor recreation and triathlon and took private adult swim lessons with Coach Lee for a while before joining the teams Masters group. By trade I am an Oceanographer and I work remotely for the University of Alaska as well as doing some contract work at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Although I will be stepping down from the role of President I look forward to remaining very active on the Board and helping SFAC continue to be a thriving and successful team.

President-Elect: VACANT

We are currently looking to fill this position. Please contact us for more information, or to nominate yourself.

Treasurer: Kim Spiers

Our family moved to New Mexico in 2010 from Georgia.  We own a local retail business, Tom Taylor Belts, Buckles and Bags located on the Santa Fe Plaza.  My husband Philip and I have two daughters, Christine who is a Junior at Western Colorado University and Samantha who is a Junior at Santa Fe High.  Both started swimming with the Santa Fe Aquatic Club in 2014.  Samantha continues to swim in the black group.  In 2016, I was asked if I would make deposits and write checks for the team.  As the team grew, this evolved into the Treasurer position.  In addition to Treasurer, I am also the volunteer coordinator, Meet Director for the meets that SFAC hosts, and I oversee all member accounts.  My interests include skiing, hiking, running, and biking. I have enjoyed participating in the growth of SFAC and being part of the SFAC family.  I look forward to continuing as a Board member and what is ahead for the team.

Accounts Manager: Kate Sallah

I grew up in NM, moved away for college(MN) and then moved to The Gambia, West Africa to teach science as a Peace Corps volunteer. Omar and I returned to Santa Fe in 2002.  I have been a science teacher at the Santa Fe Indian School since 2002 and received my Master's in science teaching in 2009 from New Mexico Tech. Ruby and Adam both started out with another SF swim club but joined SFAC in 2018. Omar and I knew nothing about swimming but we were happy to learn a new sport! We both were soccer (futbol) players as we grew up on different continents. Our family is active as we enjoy biking, hiking, backpacking and camping together. We have a dog and 2 guinea pigs and we recently added chickens to our family.  I joined the SFAC board in  April 2020 and I am currently serving as the accounts manager.

Secretary: Lee Hunt

I have three awesome kids. One of them, Raylee has been an avid swimmer for several years and has recently been promoted from the Red to the Black group. By trade, I am a personal injury attorney serving clients through New Mexico. I joined the Board in August 2020 and am currently serving as Secretary. For fun, I enjoy training for and competing in triathlons and have competed in the Hawaii Ironman twice. I recently started swimming with the SFAC Masters group.
