LOCHNESS (L1 & L2)
 
L1 High School Fitness:
Swimmers in the Lochness L1 High School Fitness (HSF) group are comfortable swimmers who enjoy swimming for fitness but may not be actively pursuing qualifying times. Our BEAST coaching staff will continue to challenge these athletes with more advanced stroke technique for all four of the competitive strokes. Athletes in this group will continue to improve their aerobic development and dryland strength training but may not elect to compete in meets or attend morning practices. High School Fitness swimmers do not have to meet attendance guidelines for practice or competition. Competition is not required for HSF athletes who prefer to swim for fitness and fun.
 
Group Requirements:
Comfortable in all 4 Olympic strokes

Schedule:
Practices are 120 minutes and offered 5 times a week.
 

L2 High School Competition:
Swimmers in the Lochness L2 High School Competition (HSC) group are actively pursuing or already achieving New Mexico state qualifying times and/or New Mexico High School State times. Our BEAST coaching staff will start to emphasize more advanced stroke technique for all four of the competitive strokes. L2 HSC athletes will progress their aerobic development through twice daily practices, dryland strength training, and start to learn more comprehensive race strategy. L2 HSC athletes should be capable of committing to 80% of practices and meets.
 
Group Requirements:
  • Must have New Mexico state qualifying times or be able to commit 4 to 5 days a week to practice
  • Highly coachable attitude and personal commitment to training
  • Ability to represent BEAST Aquatics on the state level through individual and team leadership

Practices are 120 minutes and offered 8 times a week.  Two-a-days are highly encouraged.
