Coaching Staff
Doug Heyden Interim Head Coach

Coach Doug began coaching with the Sea Dragons in the spring of 2013. His hometown is Henrietta, NY where he swam for 16 years, swimming for RHSC (now GCOM), Monroe Community College and The College at Brockport. He loves seeing the swimmers hard work that they put into practices, pay off for them in meets. Seeing that excitement they get by going a best time or by making a cut they have been working hard to get. He hopes to see the kids he coaches become not only better swimmers but also to become better people.

Jim Wishart Assistant Coach

Coach Jim has been a Sea Dragons Coach for more than 15 years. In fact, he competed as a Sea Dragon in High School. His favorite event is a close one that pushes a swimmer to a best time. What he enjoys most about swimming is the investment: watching the investment of time, effort and practices come together to produce a best time. In addition to swimming, Jim enjoys spending time with his family.

Paul Buckner

Paul started coaching with the Sea Dragons in September 2007 and shares a strong background of coaching experience with the team. Currently, Paul is a Penfield JV/Varsity Assistant Coach for the Girls and Boys HS swim teams and previously coached the Eastridge Modified Boys. Residing in East Rochester Paul attended the University of Delaware and is another local swimmer assisting the Sea Dragons. He was a 4 year Varsity and All-County swimmer for Penfield/East Rochester and is now an aspiring tri-athlete. Coach Paul believes there is no such thing as a lucky swim and enjoys seeing the rewards of a swimmer’s hard work and improvement through practice being converted into best times at meets.

Bryan Christiansen

A Penfield resident, Bryan returns to the Sea Dragons where he was swimmer himself and started coaching with the Sea Dragons in July 2008. A recent graduate from Hiram College in Ohio where he was a 3-year Varsity Captain, Bryan brings a wealth of swimming accomplishments to the club. He is a former Penfield Academic All-American and a Hiram College MVP and team record holder. Coach Bryan’s best reward as a coach is when a swimmer is proud of the work he or she has done and it shows on his or her face.

Amy Buisman

Amy Buisman is another past Sea Dragon joining the coaching ranks of the club and will focus on the development of the beginner and 8 & under swim team members. Amy was an accomplished swimmer at the Alfred University and Monroe Community College where she was a Junior College All American in the 400 IM and 200 breast stroke. The former team captain of the Penfield High School Girls swim team says her goal as a coach is to help swimmers achieve their goals in swimming and lists herself as a type of person that loves to work with people and enjoys learning something new. She recently graduated in May 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Graphic Design with an Art History minor. Amy resides in Rochester and is currently a Sales Rep for the Deep End Swim & Sportswear.

Carol Reissig

Coach Carol is a welcomed addition to the Sea Dragons coaching staff and brings to the club 28 years of competitive coaching experience. She has worked with and learned from some of the very best legend coaches in the area. Competitive swimming has been a large part of her life since she was eleven years old and her goal is to develop the same love she has had for the sport in the young swimmers that she works with. Carol’s strength is working with the younger, experienced swimmers and her success is reflected in having been responsible for developing multiple young swimmers to the district championship and zone levels. Her swim resume includes participating in many coaching clinics over the years including hearing numerous nationally well known coaches and swimmers who have shared their experiences and ideas. Carol was a Penfield High School swimmer herself in the early 70s, when the girls and guys teams were an area powerhouse and she feels to have come full circle now working with the Sea Dragons Club. A very passionate person, she looks forward to working the kids and continuing to develop great swimmers and people.

Corey McMichael Assistant Coach
Coach Corey started coaching for the Sea Dragons in September of 2017. He swam competitively throughout middle school and high school in his hometown of Spencerport, NY. Coach Corey enjoys watching the swimmers achieve personal best times that are the direct result of the time and hard work invested at practices paying off. He also appreciates watching the swimmers develop and utilize life-skills that further refine them as individuals.
Coach Corey graduated from The College at Brockport in 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Science and certification in Childhood Special Education. Outside of the pool, Coach Corey is a Special Education Teacher in the Rochester City School District.
Tyler Young Assistant Coach

Coach Tyler has been with the Sea Dragons since February 2018. Tyler has been swimming for more than 8 years. First as a youth athlete when he swam for the YMCA and Greece-Spencerport Marlin's. He continued to swim competitively on his high school swim team and for the first 2 years of his undergraduate education. Tyler’s favorite swim strokes are freestyle and breaststroke. He has been coaching for 2 years, working for an area YMCA before joining the Sea Dragons. Tyler coaches because he really enjoys helping swimmers achieve their goals. When Tyler is not at the pool, he enjoys spending time with family and friends. He is looking forward to coaching his first full season with the Sea Dragons.

Kristina Posnick Assistant Coach

Coach Kristina started coaching for Sea Dragons in September 2019.  Having swam competitively for 15 years, Kristina is excited to coach and help kids learn to love this challenging sport.  Watching the progress of how far swimmers can go to achieve their goals is a fun learning process for both the swimmer and the coach!  Kristina is a Webster native who swam for Bayview Tigers and Webster Bluefins in her younger years.  In college, Kristina swam for the University of Vermont, a division I program.  There she was a  distance/IM/breaststroker.  She recently graduated UVM with a psychology degree and hopes to pursue a physical therapy path.
