Michael Murray Program Director/Co-Head Coach

Coach Mike Murray rejoins Victor Swim Club as the Program Director and CEO in September 2019 after heading Islanders Aquatics for 2 seasons as the Head Coach. 

Over the course of his career, Murray has been instrumental in developing nationally recignized USA Swimming Club Teams. During that time he has developed USA Swimming National Team Members, International Medalists, USA Swimming National Championship finalists, USA Swimming Open Water medalists and coached at every developmental level of the sport. Victor swimmers have represented Victor Swim Club at every major championship meet for past 8 years and many have gone on to swim at the NCAA Division I., II. and III. level. 

Coach Mike has been featured in Swimming World Magazine's "Morning Swim Show," with host Jeff Commings and his work has been featured in the American Swimming Coaches Association newsletter and the International Swimming Coaches Association publications. 

Over the course of Murray's 6 years with the Victor Swim Club, Victor has earned the USA Swimming Club Recognition Level 4 Achievement Award, as well as the prestigious USA Swimming Bronze Medal for Club Excellence in both 2015, 2016 & 2017.

  • 2005-2007-Spent 3 Summers’ living in Palo Alto, CA working at Stanford University Swim Camp. 
  • 2006-2010-Assistant Coach-Marist College; 3 MAAC Conference Titles; 1 ECAC Title. Worked with Legendary Marist College Swim Coach Larry Van Wagner.
  • Coached NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee, Kate Conard, Multiple Year MAAC Champion
  • 2006-2010-Head Senior Coach Marist Swim Club- Now "Red Fox Aquatic Club." Coached multiple Speedo qualifiers, Junior National Qualifiers, US Open Qualifiers, and 1 US Olympic Trial Qualifier.

Coach Mike graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2005 with a degree in English and minor in Education. Coach Mike is a Certified Pool Operator, American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, USA Swimming Coach Member & American Swim Coaches Association Level 5 Certified Coach, which places him in the top 2% of all American Swimming Coaches. Mike has coached every level of swimming; from the lesson program through Masters and is a Private Instructor. He is the proud father of Claire (8) and Finn (6) Murray resides in Victor, NY with his fiance, Nikki and her 3 children Makayla (21, NC State University), Savannah (19) and Madison (17).

Scott Wisner Senior Prep & Senior Lead Assistant

     Coach Wisner has been a swimmer and a coach in nearly every level of swimming over his 42 years in competitive swimming.  In Watertown, NY, he was a member of the Watertown Y Swim Club competing at Y and USS meets and swam for Watertown High School there.   He also swam for Bettendorf High School and Bettendorf Park Board Swim Club.  In college, he swam distance events for the University of Iowa.  And later, he swam as a Masters swimmer for Syracuse Masters Swim Club.  Throughout his swimming career, he’s competed or qualified for most levels of competition.  He was a high school state champion both in New York and in Iowa in the 500 free, was a member of an Iowa High School Championship team, finalist at Junior Nationals, a finalist and member of two Big Ten championship teams and a medalist at Masters Zones and Nationals.
      His coaching career started while he was in high school helping with the younger Y swimmers and assisting with the girls high school team (tough duty for a high school guy). He was both an Assistant and Head Coach with the Watertown Y Swim Club, Assistant Coach with Iowa City Swim Club, Graduate Assistant at The University of Iowa, Co-Head Coach with the Leatherstocking Hawks Swim Club (Utica, NY) and Head Coach with the Fort Lauderdale Swim Team.  Swimmers he has coached have competed at Y States and Nationals, Empire State Games, high school state championships in New York, Iowa and Florida, Junior and Senior Nationals as well as several going>
      Coach Wisner is a Level 4 coach in the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA).  On the side, he is a second-degree black belt in Goju Ryu Karate and has worked for 20 years with the Rotary Youth Exchange program.  He is married to Amy, a former All-American swimmer at Ithaca College and is the father of two swimmers, Kai and Taryn.

Christine Regelsberger Development and Senior Prep Coach

Chris started competitive swimming at the age of 7. As an age group swimmer, she competed in the Empire State Games, Eastern Zone Meets, as well as many Junior and Senior National Meets in a variety of events. She was a finalist in 200 fly at Senior Nationals.

She attended Miami University on a Division I Scholarship, where she broke school records in the 200 & 500 free, 200 fly, and the 400, 800 free and 400 Medley relays. She was named captain her senior year. In 1989, she was awarded the Leann Grimes Davidge Memorial Award which is noted as the top award for an upperclass female athlete  and recognizes excellence in academics, leadership and  athletics. Chris is a Mid-American Conference Champion and record holder in 200 fly and conference record holder in 200 free and the  400 & 800 Free relays and 400 Medley Relay. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Miami University. She was inducted into the Miami University Athletic Hall of Fame in October 2016.

While attending the University of Pittsburgh for her Masters Degree in Education, she was the Assistant Women’s Swim Coach for two seasons where the team won the Big East Swimming and Diving Championship in 1991. She was also an age group swim coach at Team Pittsburgh Aquatic Swim Team for two years. 

In Rochester, she had a variety of coaching experiences. She coached Mercy High School, Westside Swim Team, MCC Masters Swimming, Churchville Chili Varsity Boys and Girls, and Gates Chili Girls Varsity for nine (9) years. Chris coached state qualifiers and many Zone qualifiers. She is currently in her first season coaching Swimming at Rush Henrietta High School.

She also taught 5th and 6th grade at West Irondequoit for ten (10) years before resigning to be at home with her children.

Chris returned to coaching in 2008 as an Age Group Coach with the Golden Comets Swim Team through September 2016. In May 2011, she shared the 2010-2011 Niagara LSC Age Group Coach of the Year. She served 7 years on the GVSL board as league treasurer. In 2013, she served as a Niagara LSC Zone Coach for both short course (11-12 age group) and long course (10 and under) meets. In 2014, she was a 10 and under short course Zone Coach and served on the NI Age Group Committee. She was elected as a co- chair for the Age Group Vice Chair position for Niagara Swimming LSC during 2014-2016 where she served as team manager for the Niagara Zone Team. In 2016, she enthusiastically joined Victor Swim Club as an intermediate coach.

She continues to research and study swimming and achieved her ASCA Level 3 Education Certification in September 2017. She will be working with the Developmental, Intermediate and Sr Prep Groups for the 2018- 2019 Season.

Kristy Shields Assistant Developmental Coach

Kristy has been a Victor Swim Club coach since 2002. She was the 8 & under head coach from 2007 to 2013 and the head Intermmediate coach from 2013 to 2016.  She has been teaching swim lessons or coaching swimming since 1996.  She has a BA in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education/Special Education from Nazareth College.  During the day, she teaches students with disabilities.  She is married to Scott Shields, with whom she has a son named Zachary and a daughter named Melody. With the demands of parenting and children activities, Kristy has become a coach support for the Developmental and Intermmediate groups.

Her swimming career began with Victor Swim Club at the age of 9.  She was a multiple Section Five champion in individual events (100 free, 200 free) and team relays, qualifying for States for 4 years and was a school record holder at the Victor High School in the 100 free and 2 team relays.  Kristy finished her competitive swimming career at Washington & Jefferson College setting two school records and being a 2 time Conference champion in each the 200 fly and the 100 free, as well as team relays during her 2 years. 

In addition to coaching for the club, Kristy was the assistant coach for the Girls Varsity swim team from 2006 to 2011.  Her responsibilities included stroke and turn development, race strategies, sprint training, and mentoring.

She has a true love for the sport of swimming and stays current with stroke technique and training strategies through clinics and collaboration with other experienced coaches, to ensure a high quality of coaching in and out of the pool with dryland training.  She implements her knowledge of child development, teaching strategies, and social development into her coaching, so that all swimmers have fun and become stronger and more confident swimmers.  Swimmers with Coach Kristy learn the thrill of competitive swimming.
