What Makes the Pony Gallop
Much of what is accomplished by the Dallas Mustangs results from participation by swimmer's parents. The Dallas Mustangs is a parent run volunteer organization. Only the coaches are paid. As such, your contribution to volunteering is what makes the team a success. Every family is required to help at DM hosted events that their child is participating in and contribute to the continued success of the Dallas Mustangs.
- Every family is required to volunteer a minimum of TWO sessions during each Mustang hosted meet in which their child is competing.
- Even if their child does not participate in any meets hosted by the Mustangs, the team requires every family to volunteer a minimum of TWO sessions per year at a Mustang hosted meet.
- If you do not sign up to volunteer, your credit card will be charged $200 and you may be assigned a position at the next meet.
FAQ:
Example of cumulative effect of the rule: If your swimmer participates in two swim meets hosted by the Dallas Mustangs, you would be asked to volunteer 2 sessions at each of those meets (4 total).
If you have multiple swimmers participating in a Mustang hosted meet, the requirement is still 2 sessions. The requirement is 2 sessions per meet, not a requirement per swimmer.
If your family has two volunteers for 1 particular session, you have fulfilled the requirement. A session typically lasts about 3 hours.
There are a wide variety of volunteering positions. When a Mustangs-hosted meet is imminent, an online spreadsheet will be posted and you will be able to select a position and sign up for different sessions.

Any questions: Will Riemer or Greg Seidel.
For those that have an interest, we need a computer operator (Hy-Tek Meet Manager software) and a Colorado Timing System operator for the team at meets we host. These positions require training during one of our meets. Any questions on those positions can be directed to Greg.
