Parents please read this thoroughly.  It is even more important that swimmers and parents heed the covid protocols put in place.  If your swimmer has any covid symptoms DO NOT ALLOW them to come to practice and get them tested ASAP.  They are not only jeopardizing their ability to practice but others with whom they share a lane.

Below are a list of changes taking place along with our updated practice schedule and fees associated with the increased practice time.

  1. No parents on the deck.  Same rules apply.
  2. When are swimming more than 2 swimmers per lane.
  3. Masks are now optional.

As you can see by all the changes it is imperative that your swimmer not come to practice if they have any of the following symptoms:

  • Temperature of 100.0°F or higher when taken by mouth
  • Chills, shaking or exaggerated shivering
  • Cough
  • Difficulty breathings, shortness of breath

FAQ for Reopening RACE

We will be swimming more than 2 per lane (lane count is dependent on group size and ability).

What to expect?

  • Do not come to practice if you are having a bad allergy day.  We understand it is allergies, but it makes everyone else extremely uncomfortable.

  • Swimmers will arrive 10 minutes before your practice time.

  • Come prepared for your practice dressed in your suit with your cap and goggles, filled water bottle & equipment bag.

  • Vending machines & water fountains are operational.  The water bottle filler is operational but please make sure your swimmer brings a filled water bottle to practice.

  • Spectators are now able to watch practice from the stands.

  • Contact us immediately if anyone in your family is diagnosed with COVID-19 or anyone is compromised.

What will happen with my billing if I do not want to re-join yet?

NOTHING!  You will not be charged.  You must OPT-IN to programming for any fees to be added into your account.  RACE would never charge you for months you choose not to attend due to Covid 19 as this is a health issue and RACE has had a longstanding policy of not charging swimmers who cannot practice because of illness or injury.  We require changes you would like made to your account (such as deactivation) in writing (mailto:[email protected]).

Is it safe to swim?

Per the CDC, “There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools, hot tubs or spas, or water playgrounds. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools, hot tubs or spas, and water playgrounds should inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.”  The state of Texas has also set forth pool guidelines.  The links to these guidelines along with UIL, NHHS and RISD are at the bottom of this document.

When is my practice?

Log in to your RACE account ( and click my account.  Click the members tab and it should show you what practice group your swimmer is assigned.  After that click the Practice Schedule tab on the front page of our website.  We are doing our very best to accommodate everyone keeping within our current physical distancing guidelines.

What is RACE doing to encourage physical distancing?

  • A RACE Staff member will be at the designated door ensuring swimmers following the guidelines.  We reserve the right to send anyone home who has a fever or is exhibiting symptoms of illness.

  • Please drop swimmers off 10 minutes prior to their practice time.

  • Swimmers should arrive in their suits, ready to swim.  The family bathroom is available if necessary for swimmers and staff only.  Water bottle filler is operational but the fountains are closed.

  • Swimmers must bring their own equipment.

What will RACE do to keep the facility clean?

  • We have always followed CDC cleaning protocols and those set out by other health professionals and authorities.  We also use CDC recommended cleaning products.

  • Hand sanitizer will continue to be available throughout the facility.

  • Cleaning by our janitorial staff will continue and, as always, they will use commercial grade cleaning supplies approved by the CDC.  Additional deep cleans will be utilized as needed or recommended.

What is RACE doing to keep the pools properly maintained?

  • RACE will continue to follow State and County regulations on pool maintenance.

  • We use chlorine as per usual for sanitization of the water.  In addition to the appropriate use of chlorine, each pool has a high-quality UV water purification system that keeps the water clean. When water is pumped through our UV system, ultraviolet light rays kill dangerous germs and inactivates viruses.

  • We will continue to monitor the pool's chemistry throughout the day as well as our state-of-the-art electronic pool monitoring systems.

  • We will purge the air more frequently for fresh air recirculation.
