Club Excellence and Junior Nationals

I am very proud to announce that RACE has achieved a Bronze Medal National Club Excellence Award from USA Swimming in only its 5th year of existence!  The National Club Excellence Award recognizes USAS Clubs for their commitment to excellence and performance.  Out of the nearly 3,000 club swim teams across the USA, only 20 are awarded Gold Medal status, 80 are awarded Silver, and 100 are awarded Bronze.  Congratulations to RACE coaches and swimmers for their achievement!

The main criteria for achieving this award comes from National level performances from Senior level swimmers.  In our case, impressive performances from Raena Eldridge and Jared Bulter over the last 6 months have made the greatest contribution.  Most recently, Raena and Jared participated in the Winter Junior National Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.  The Junior National Championships are held in December (short course) and August (long course) every year and bring together the very best 18 & Under swimmers from across the country that achieve the qualification standards.  Each individual event will have between 100-150 preliminary swimmers, but only the top 24 qualify for the finals (three heats).

Out of the combined 10 events that the two swimmers competed in over the three-day meet, they achieved personal bests in 8.  Raena and Jared each qualified for finals (top 24) in their best events, the 100 fly and 200 IM respectively.  Raena ended up placing 20th in finals and Jared placed 19th.  I am very proud of Raena , Jared and the next generation of swimmers that are making the commitment to this wonderfully rewarding sport.  Good luck the rest of the season!
