Coaches and Directors

Maggie has been the backbone of the COR Swim team since 1981. She is the club’s Head Coach and currently coaches the Senior Swimmers. Maggie has coached Junior National Swimmers, National Age Group Champions, TAGS Champions and numerous Top 16 swimmers.
Maggie has served extensively as a member of the USA Education Committee and is currently serving on the USA Swimming Club Development Committee.
Maggie has received the American Swim Coaches 'Age Group Coach of the Year' for North Texas LSC. Over the years, she has served in virtually every committee in the North Texas Local Swim Committee. Maggie has been honored with a lifetime membership in USA Swimming.
Maggie is from Grosse Pointe Michigan where she attended Michigan State University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education and Child Development and continued her graduate education at Texas Woman's University and also through continuing educational clinics and programs.
Maggie resides in Richardson and has a large extended family in Michigan and a brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew in Richardson.

Brandon Jones became COR's Head Age Group Coach in September
2012. He brings 25+ years coaching experience as Brandon
directs and oversees COR's Age Group Program. His strengths
include coaching techniques, creating a fun environment for
training, motivating swimmers to compete and building a training
base for his athletes to advance at the next level. Brandon's
enthusiasm, approach and sense of humor help to create a great
atmosphere for success. He has helped to build one of the top
12 and Under programs in North Texas, from
beginners to state and nationally ranked swimmers.
Brandon has coached
swimmers ranked in the top 3, top 5 and top 10 in the US. He
has coached individual TAGS Champions, TAGS Individual High
Point Award Winners and the 10 & Under Boys TAGS Team High
Point Award Winners 1999. Brandon coaches the Dolphins Group, our top 10-12 year
olds. He also works with our Minnows and Piranhas
Groups. Brandon has produced Junior National
qualifiers, Sectionals qualifiers, TAGS qualifiers and North Texas
Zones Team qualifiers. He is a Member of the North Texas
Swimming Board of Directors and serves as the North Texas LSC Age
Group Chair.
Brandon grew up swimming for COR from 1983-1991. He was a
member of the 1991-1992 Men's Swim Team at Texas Christian
University (TCU) before beginning his Coaching career with
COR. In September of 1992, Brandon began as a Senior
Assistant for Fernando Canales and Age Group Assistant Coach
to Maggie Shook.
From 1993-1996, Brandon also spent 3 seasons as the Head
Coach of Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas. While
there he coached High School All Americans, Junior
National Qualifiers, Easter Prep Nationals, National Catholic &
TCIL State Champions. In 1996, he won the TCIL Coach of the
Year award.
Brandon spent 10 years in HR and Recruiting. He also worked as a Director of Sales and Logistics for an International Export Company. Brandon lives in Rockwall with his wife Christina and their two children, Blake & Loryn.

Dan Hafner is entering his 8th year coaching swimming for COR. He coaches our top Seniors Group producing several new COR Record Holders as well as Sectionals, Junior Nationals, Senior Nationals & Olympic Trials Qualifiers.
Prior to COR, he spent 2 years as the the Senior Assistant Coach for Oakland Live Y'ers. There he coached worked with numerous state, sectional, junior national, senior national, and Olympic Trials qualifiers. Prior to Oly he coached for 7 years at Pointe Aquatics in Grosse Pointe,MI. There he oversaw the age group program and worked with the senior level swimmers. Dan coached swimmers of all ages includeing age group state qualifiers to Olympic Trials Qualifiers.Dan was also an assistant coach and assistant pool manager at the Lochmoor Club in Grosse Pointe, Mi. While at Lochmoor Club the team had won 8 straight MICSA championships.
Dan swam in college at Oakland University and the University of South Carolina. He swam club for Bob Jenrow at Birmingham Bloomfield Atlantis and High School for Darin Abasse at Birmingham Groves. He graduated with a degree in Physical Education from Wayne State University in Detroit, Mi. He finished his Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration in the fall of 2011.

Laura Ring returned to COR in September of 2012. She began swimming at the age of 5 but didn’t fully immerse herself into aquatics until she became a competitive swimmer with COR in 1996. Laura continued swimming in college for Henderson State University where she served as team captain for 2 years. She received both athletic and academic honors and served as president for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
Swimming has always played a positive and influential role in Laura’s life both as an athlete and a coach. Since 1999, she has been coaching, teaching and working in various areas of aquatics; including coaching for COR in 2006 & 2007, working with the Minnows, Piranhas and Sharks groups. Today, Laura coaches the Senior Blue Group, and is the coach for our Sharks Group. She has been selected to work as a team manager for 2 USA National Swim Camps. In the Summer of 2019, Laura was named the Team USA Junior National Team Manager for competitions in France and Spain! During that trip, Laura worked with many of the new swimmers competing for Team USA in Tokyo, Japan. She is the North Texas Swimming LSC Secretary and a member of the NT Board of Directors.
Laura has a Bachelors of Science in Biology from Henderson State University in Arkansas. Since returning to COR, Laura's positive influence, including her ability to teach, train and motivate, has been felt on many levels within the team!

Chris returned to COR for the 2019-2020 Swim Year after graduating from Austin College in Sherman, TX. He will be coaching our Piranhas group and assisting with our Senior 1 group, Chris brings a very recent and relatable approach to the swimmers. He grew up swimming for COR where he trained under coaches Brandon Jones, Maggie Shook and Dan Hafner. He has worked with the Age Group program in 2018 and is very familiar with COR's approach and technical focus on strokes.
Chris graduated from Richardson High School and is currently their 100 backstroke record holder. He attended Austin College where he was a member of their swim team. Chris was a 7 time school record holder, 100 Backstroke Conference Champion, the 2017, 2018 & 2019 Austin College Swimmer of the Year, the 2017 Freshman Athlete of the Year and the 2019 Male Athlete of the Year. He graduated with a Bachelor's in Business Administration & Economics. Chris is pursuing an MBA in Sports Entertainment Management at the University of North Texas.

Kim oversees COR's Jumbo Shrimps and Swim School programs. She also works with our age group levels. Kim started coaching swimming at 16 years of age in Napa, CA where she ran a Swim America swim school. She then became an age group with coach with the Napa Valley swim team where she worked with Paul Bergen, Jack Ridley, and Bob Bowman.
Kim swam as an age group swimmer for the Napa Valley swim team until age 14 and then swam in junior college. She has always been active in athletics and swim, as well as running. She has completed 21 marathons (so far) and numerous triathlons. After meeting her husband, while a flight attendant at Southwest Airlines, she moved to Camas, Washington where she started her own swim school that focused on younger children and triathletes. In 2012 her family moved to Phoenix AZ and her children, Ryan and Amelia, joined Scottsdale Aquatic Club. Kim was an age group coach at Scottsdale Aquatic Club. Scottsdale Aquatic Club is a top 10 National team and perennial Gold rated swim club. Kim also coached High School and Junior High at Scottsdale Preparatory Academy. While coaching at Scottsdale Prep, Kim’s team won the small school championship and was runner up for division 3 schools in the state of Arizona. Kim’s husband works for Southwest Airlines, so in 2017 they moved again to Rockwall where both Ryan and Amelia swim. Kim is passionate about swimming and fitness, she was a certified Crossfit instructor and a life long teacher. Her emphasis is on form and technique and loves working with the newer swimmers.

Coach Colin McGrane returned to COR the summer of 2013. He coaches our Summer High School Group. Colin brings his coaching experience and his enthusiasm to COR. His upbeat and out-going personality is infectious and his swimmers are always highly motivated.
Colin swam for Berkner High School and was a COR swimmer in 1994. After graduating high school, Colin began coaching for COR in 1995. He assisted Coach Maggie Shook and Coach Brandon Jones with the Dolphins Group, but primarily worked with Minnows and Piranhas Groups. Colin left COR in late 1999 to complete his Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of North Texas. After spending 4 years working exclusively for Plano ISD, he accepted a position with COPS as an Assistant Age Group Coach. While at COPS, Colin helped to build a strong age group program, adding several A and TAGS qualifiers to the team. He left COPS after the summer of 2011 to spend more time with his family.
During the school year, Colin is an Art teacher for Plano ISD. He was formerly a Swim Coach at Plano East Senior High School. He lives in Plano with his lovely wife Kinome and their 2 children, Lily and Joe.
