Brian Dangelmaier Program Director

MARS head coach with over 27 years of experience.  Former professor of biomechanics at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), and adjunct professor of exercise physiology at The University of North Texas, with more than 45 professional publications and presentations.  Author or co-author of three books covering topics of biomechanics and physiology of sport.  Coach of 2002 and 2004 High School National Champion and several Top 16 National Reportable swimmers.  Brian is also a licensed Expert Coach with USA Cycling for more than two decades.  Long time member of the Board of Trustees of the Texas Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (TACSM), Age Group Chairman of North Texas Swimming, and member of the Age Group Development Committee at USA Swimming. Brian was elected to the position of USA Swimming Southern Zone Age Group Chairman in 2008, and has served in many administrative roles within North Texas Swimmng.  Brian earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at UTA, his Masters of Science degree from the University of North Texas, and is a doctoral candidate in biomechanics at Texas Woman’s University.  Brian is a full-time Arlington ISD swimming coach and teacher at Lamar High School.  Brian's phone number is 817-925-0505.

Suzanne Dangelmaier Director of Operations

Suzanne is the MARS Director of Operations with more than 20 years of coaching experience and more than 12 years experience in many other areas of aquatics.  Suzanne is a American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor and Certified Pool Operator.  She also has served as the Diversity and Inclusion Chair for the USAS Southern Zone and North Texas Swimming for 12 years, is the Executive Director of the MARS Foundation, and currently serves as the Administrative Vice-Chair of North Texas Swimming.  Suzanne earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Science from UTA and her Master’s Degree in Education, also at UTA. Suzanne is the Arlington High School head swimming coach and teaches Forensic Science there.  Suzanne’s phone number is 214-793-4773.

Shannon Gillespy Senior Assistant Coach

 

Coach Shannon has coached for over 30 years (5 with Team Orlando and 22 with Lakeside Aquatic Club and 6 with MARS).  Shannon is the Aquatics Director for Lewisville Independent School District. She has been the High School District and Region Coach of the Year numerous times, has coached TAGS and High School State Champions, and Olympic Trial Qualifiers.  Swimming competitively since age 8, she lettered at SMU and SW Texas State, where she received a BS in Education and MA in Recreational Business. She has served on the USA Swimming Board of Directors, has been TISCA president, and on the USA National team swimming staff (most recently at the 2012 London Olympics and 2013 Barcelona World Championships 2015 world championships in Austraila).  Coach Shannon is ASCA 3 certified andwas General Chair for North Texas Swimming.

Brooke Wallace Age Group Coach

Coach Brooke has been a swim coach for 7 years. Along with coaching, she swam competitively for 13 years. She is currently pursuing a Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management degree at the University of North Texas. 

Rachel Villalba Age Group Coach

Coach Rachel swam for Lakeside Aquatic Club from 2008- 2015, the last 2 years spent on the nationals team. She swam on varsity at Marcus High school under Coach Gillespy, qualifiying and placing at high school Districts and Regionals three years in a row. She coached the LISD middle school swim program for Marcus all four years. Rachel first began coaching her neighborhood swim team during the summer in 2009, and eventually became a swim instructor for Lakeside Aquatic Club for 2 years. She currently coaches Gold 2 and AG2 group in Grapevine and is a full time student at the University of North Texas studying Early Childhood Education with specialization in Special Education. 

 
Megan Howard Age Group Coach

Coach Megan joined the MARS team in 2017. She is currently attending UTA and is planning on getting a Bachelors in Economics and a minor in German. Megan is very excited to be working with your children to improve all aspects of their swimming. 

Eric Briscoe Head Age Group Coach

Eric is our Head Age Group Coach.  He holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Studies Composite with a minor in Education as well as a Master's degree in Kinesiology.  He has been a swim coach since 1993 and has coached teams at various levels including local club leagues, UIL High School Teams, and USA Swim Clubs.  He has been with MARS since 2009.

Andrew Lee

 

My name is Andrew and I am freshman attending UT Arlington for a year until I transfer to UT Austin. I have 17 years of swim experience which has taken me as high as state finals meets for 6A schools within the state of Texas. I was born and raised in California till I moved to Austin and continued to pursue my swim career under the National Development team of Nitro Swim Club. I have school records, received All American swimming awards on numerous occasions, was an All State athlete, and I was a team captain for Lake Travis High School from my sophomore to senior year. In addition, I have coached two summer league teams and a club team. I look forward to working with each individual swimmer in perfecting their technique and getting to know the team better. Stephen Bryant

 

Coach Stephen has been teaching children ages 4-13 how to swim since 2015. He recently stepped into coaching in December of 2018 as a MARS coach for the GCISD location where he coaches the Pre-Competition, Bronze, and Silver groups. He also works as a lifeguard and swim instructor for the GCISD Swim Center. Stephen swam competitively for the Richland High School Swim Team from 2016-2019 and was the varsity boys captain of the team from 2017-2019. He is a full time student at Tarrant County College in pursuit of a degree in Early Childhood Education with specialization in  English as a Second Language. On the weekends, Stephen volunteers at Milestone Church as a small group leader for boys in the 5th and 6th grade and also as a barista.
