All of our coaches have received training from the American Swimming Coaches Association, which offers the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. They provide assurances that the time children spend in swimming will be quality time.

Bob Hommel

Head Coach & Program Founder/Director

Coach Bob founded BlueFin Aquatics to fulfill his vision to offer a new type of swim team for swimmers at all levels that want to achieve their personal potential in a fun, supportive environment.

Coach Bob's extensive coaching experience spans all age groups, from beginners to nationally ranked swimmers. He has worked with swimmers who went on to compete at the collegiate level including UNLV, UCLA, ASU, Harvard and Stanford. His swimmers have also competed at the Olympic Trials.

He developed his coaching philosophy and vision for BlueFin Aquatics during his 8 years at the Boulder City Swim Team coaching all age groups from beginners to collegiate athletes. He believes that you get out of swimming what you put into it and that one size doesn’t fit all. As a year round swim coach, he has led swimmers of both genders to success at Senior and Junior Nationals Finals, Southern California Age Group records and Nevada Age Group State Champions.

Recognized for his coaching expertise, he was selected as a national voting delegate at three recent USA Swimming National Conventions. He is the Current Coaches Representative/Voting member of Southern California/Desert Committee. He was the Head Coach of the Women’s Team for the Japan versus California/Nevada All Stars in 2014. He has also been invited to the USOC Training Facility in Colorado Springs with Female and Male athletes as part of the USA Swimming National Select Camp for the Top 60 Swimmers in the Country.

Prior to founding BlueFin Aquatics, Coach Bob was sought out for his swimming technique and provided hundreds of private swim lessons (ages 6 to 60) utilizing under water video at most City of Henderson pools throughout Henderson.

Bob is an entrepreneurial, self-starter who has enjoyed success in many areas of his life. Prior to following his passion for the sport of swimming and becoming a licensed professional swim coach in 2006, he enjoyed a successful career in sales and management as a Commercial Real Estate Professional.

As a youth he played nearly every sport, including swimming, but found his first passion as a race car driver. He is a retired winning race car driver, crew chief and instructor.

Coach Bob has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Relations from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
