FAST Newsletter for Week of June 1, 2020

Erin Crabtree

IT'S GREAT TO BE BACK!

Day 1 is in the books! The Senior Group earned a B- on knowing and following our guidelines for entering, dry items & equipment placement, and leaving the building. The 6:00am group did a great job coming and going, but forgot to bring their equipment. The 7:30 and 9:00 groups brought their equipment, but didn't do so well knowing their dry placement for their stuff or equipment placement on the pool deck. Thank you to all of those who were on top of it today-you were great!

Please make sure to review this information prior to Wednesday's return and make sure to bring your equipment. It is super important that we do this right to avoid slowing our progress or being shut down again. Parents- PLEASE relay this info to your swimmer. Some of them looked at us today as if we had 3 heads, not having a clue of where to go or what to do.

Contact Coach Erin if you need the email resent for lane assignments and dry item/equipment placement. We will be happy to resend it.

Overall though, we are so happy to be back in the pool and seeing everyone today!

ATTENTION GREEN GROUP:

We know our start date of June 22 is still a few weeks away, but spots are starting to fill up. We are asking that if you do plan to register for our June 22 start, to do so sooner rather than waiting. This will give us an idea of exact numbers as we inch closer to our allotted 18 swimmers per practice time and how we need to move forward. If the spots are totally full, please email Coach Erin so we know you are planning on swimming and how we need to adjust. Thank you in advance.

REMINDER-APT TRAINING & SAFE SPORT REQUIREMENTS:

Thank you to all who have already completed these trainings! We still have a ways to go to meet our team requirement, so please make sure to get on and complete it! Thank you!

Athlete Protection Training:

This is a reminder that all athletes 18 & Over must now complete the Athlete Protection Training (APT). So if you have turned 18 and have not completed this training, you must do so ASAP-you cannot participate until this is completed.

USA Swimming SafeSport

We need to update our Team’s SafeSport status and we need everyone's help. We are asking you to either complete the zoom call and survey or complete the training on the LEARN Platform. We prefer these two methods, but if we don't get much response, we will be required to hold madatory training for parents and athletes all at once. These two options give you the flexibility to complete the training on your own time. Thank you in advance!

The Safe Sport Club Recognition program allows FAST to demonstrate its commitment to creating a healthy and positive environment free from abuse for all its members through the development and implementation of club governance measures, Safe Sport policies and reporting mechanisms, Safe Sport best practices and training to athletes and parents.

ZOOM TRAINING: Attendance will be taken via a survey at the end of the training at the USA Swimming staff will manually update the Club Portal so that clubs receive credit towards recognition.

Or

USA Swimming LEARN Platform: Athletes and parents can independently complete the training sessions using the USA Swimming LEARN platform.

  • Please be sure to take the survey at the end of the training. Our club code is FAST-LE or Firestone Akron Swim Team-Lake Erie LSC
