FAST NEWSLETTER: Week of January 17, 2022

Apologies for the delayed newsletter this week, between the pool being down and the weather, we wanted to limit emails to ensure clear communication.

REPORTING ABSENCES

Please email HERE for any absences PRIOR to the practice missing.

NO PRACTICE TONIGHT-WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 19

Since Akron Public Schools do not have school today, we will NOT have practice this evening (Wednesday, January 19).

We are also still waiting on the pool to be fixed, so either way, we would not have had practice this evening.

We will plan on running normal practice tomorrow-Thursday-unless the pool is still down. We will let you know if there is NOT going to be practice tomorrow as soon as we know. We are hoping for a fix today. PLEASE PLAN ON A NORMAL SCHEDULE TOMORROW, UNLESS YOU HEAR FROM US. We are also searching for other pool options, should the repairs take longer. Keep an eye on your email for any updates.

Swimmers can find a neighbor who may need help shoveling and get their exercise in by doing a good deed for someone who needs help.

FHAA AUCTION

Hello FAST families!

Firestone High School Swim & Dive Team is hosting a virtual auction this weekend 1/21-1/22

https://www.32auctions.com/FHAA2022

Please consider bidding on items or donating towards FHAA. The auction goes live Friday and ends Saturday at 10PM.

There are five special items that FAST families will enjoy bidding on the most.  Coach Erin, Coach Carl, and Coach Cindy have all donated private lessons at a mutual agreed upon date and time.  Spring FAST Fees, FAST award holder & magnets are up for bid, too.  My favorite item is the FHAA Winner Reserved Parking Spot that can be used for practices, meets, and anytime you need pool access. Of course, you are welcome to bid on the spectacular other prizes, which includes sporting tickets, car detailing, gym packages, spa packages, and many more.  Check it out and heart the ones you like now!

Thank you for your consideration – Jennifer Sevald

DRESSING APPROPRIATELY

Please make sure your swimmer is appropriately dressed for the winter. It is cold and snowy and we want to keep everyone as healthy as possible. This means coats, hats, socks, pants, and shoes…no more flip flops please ;-) Locker rooms are open to quickly change, so hopefully no one is going home wet.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR

-Tuesday, January 25: No Practice due to High School Home Meet.

-March 4-6: FAST is hosting Lake Erie Senior Champs. All groups will be required to volunteer at least one session. More info to come.

-July 14-17: SAVE THE DATE: FAST hosting Summer USA Swimming Sectionals at Cleveland State. All Families will be required to help run the meet. This is our largest fundraiser for our club all year with a potentially large payout to benefit our swimmers and our program.

CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS

Championship meet season is quickly approaching!

All 8 and Unders will attend 8 & Under Champs on March 12th at CSU.

All swimmers 9 & Over will receive an email soon stating which championship meet they qualify to attend, either Regionals or Junior Olympics, or both.

Regionals will be held in Wooster on February 27th

Junior Olympics will be held March 11-13 at CSU.

We want everyone to plan to attend their appropriate championship meet!

MARCH END DATE/BILLING

Our last day of Winter Season practice will be March 11. We will only be billing for ½ of March. You will see this reflected in your March billing statement.
