Coach Katie started swimming at the age of 8 with the Northland Swim Club Tigersharks in her local summer swim league. Her coaching career also began with the Tigersharks, when she turned 16. During college, she continued swimming and also coached at the North YMCA, a member of the YMCA of Central Ohio.
Coach Katie continued her coaching career after moving to Findlay in 2001, coaching with FAST, Lakeview Swim Club, and the Findlay YMCA Frogs. Coach Katie assumed the head coaching position of the Frogs in 2022. Katie has three children, both of her daughters were or are currently swimmers, and has lots of pets. Coach Katie is the Aquatics Director at the Findlay YMCA. In her free time… wait, free time? …. she enjoys watching her kids’ excel at their activities and spending time with family and friends.
Coach Katie’s swimming nemesis is butterfly, but she loves breastroke and putting little people inside swim caps.

Heather Chan
Assitant Coach, Red Frogs and Tadpoles
Coach Heather was a competitive swimmer for 13 years, from 4th grade through collegiate swimming for the University of Findlay. She has always been around the pool deck, serving as a lifeguard, swim instructor and pool manager during high school and college. Coach Heather joined the Frogs coaching staff in 2022, shortly after her two boys began swimming with the team.
Heather also works at Marathon Petroleum in the Corporate Health, Environmental, Safety, Security and Product Quality group. When not swimming, coaching or working, she enjoys hiking, cooking and building LEGOs with her husband and boys.
Coach Heather likes swimming breaststroke, the IM, and distance freestyle. One of her favorite things about swimming is how impactful it is in all aspects of life – from physical and mental health, to improved math, rhythm and social skills (we swimmers have a unique bond for sure!), to an improved ability to set and achieve goals.
